FAQ

How to upgrade the firmware?

Dear Customer,

Please follow the Steps below to upgrade your device:

1.     Download the firmware file (http://vantrue.net/Support/detail/id/47.html) to your PC;

2.     Format you microSD card on the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer through the USB port on the camera. Copy the firmware file (in .bin format) to the microSD card, then unplug the camera from the computer and turn it off;

Note: the firmware file (in .bin format) could not be recognized by computer, it could just be recognized by the dash cam, so don’t try to open it on PC, just copy it to the card.

3.     Plug the camera to a power charger (not computer), or press the power button;

4.     Then the camera will auto upgrade, and it will take about 30 secs to 1 min, during this time, the camera will not turn on and will not respond to any button or operation;

5.     Once the dash cam upgraded successfully, it will turn on and work.

6.     Please have a check the version of your device now (go to the System Setup menu and turn to the Version) and see if it is VTN2Pro8F.V21_IQ. If it is, then the camera has been upgraded successfully.

7.     Format the microSD card when the update has been completed, or the camera will upgrade itself everytime when it detects the firmware file in the card.

Update Note:

Fixed the bug of rear camera’s voice recording when loop recording is off.

Thank you!

Small, Quality, Easy to Use Dash CamReviewed in the United States
Glad I made this purchase. I've been looking into buying one of these for quite some time now and to find one with all the right features was a struggle. This Dash Cam does it all. There is a front and rear camera on this unit. The front camera aims out the windshield to capture in front of your vehicle and the wide angle, rear camera captures a video of inside the cabin. Both cameras produce 1080p setting with the front camera being able to record up to 1440P.

A couple interesting features I'd like to point out and find especially nice... The dash cam has the ability to take time lapse video. As a photographer I think that is a great way to get some interesting footage to add in travel videos. Another cool feature is that it can record from the camera's battery once you turn the car off. Its goes into a 'Park' mode. Once you enable this feature in the settings, it will enable the dash cam to record 5 minutes after you park. This could be very useful is someone where to back into your car while you were shopping.

I’m impressed with the video quality from such a small camera. Once you start driving you completely forget that it’s even there.

Great PurchaseReviewed in the United States
I purchased four of these dash cameras this year and am very happy with them. Originally we were only going to buy two of the cameras for our teens that just received cars and obtained their driver's licenses...something to give me piece of mind "in case" something happened. After reading the reviews on Amazon and watching videos of the product, we decided to get 2 more for us (parents). Now all four of us have them. They are very easy to use and set up. The clarity of the video is great and I love the ability to have both the front of car and back of the car covered one one system. The range of coverage is pretty good and does cover the corners of the car in case anything occurred on the side. I disconnect the camera at the mount and it is easily accessible, allowing the mount and plug to remain in place. I connect mine right under the front mirror and it does not block the view out the front. Reasonably priced for the piece of mind it provides. I have had to reach out to the company for a question and received a response back in less than 24 hours. Good customer service.

 Only Infrared (IR) Cameras Can Capture Images in Complete Darkness!Reviewed in the United States
Having recently started driving Uber it occurred to me it would be in my best interest to have a dual dash cam. This got me started doing the research. In this litigious society (no matter what country) a video is worth a thousand words when it comes to the truth.
So, whether having a video record of your ride sharing experience inside the car, or to dispel the “he-said-she-said” debate following a traffic accident, it is clearly in your best interest to be able to produce video proof.
Obviously, not all dash cams are created equal. Consider your needs before making a decision. In my case I needed a “dual” dash cam with a rear facing camera that would work in complete darkness to capture what is going on inside my car. Some “dual” dash cams claim to have wide dynamic range (WDR) and “night mode”. But if you really need a camera that works in the complete darkness you need an infrared (IR) capable camera WITH an infrared light source built in. The Vantrue N2 Pro Dual Dash Cam w/ Infrared Night Vision provides exactly that.
Other dual dash cams typically have a remote rear facing camera, with a long cable to attach it to the main control unit, while the front facing camera will be built into the main control unit that attaches to your dash or windshield. These are intended to allow you to decide where to put the rear facing camera. Typically facing out the rear window to cover what’s happening behind the car. If you wanted to capture the interior of the car you would attach it to the inside of the front windshield facing the interior of the car.
I originally bought a dual dash cam that claimed to have “night vision”. I installed it and found it to be a really nice camera with a lot of features, however neither camera was rated for infrared (IR) light. After I realized it would not work to capture images of the interior of my car in the dark I bought an external IR light source. This did not help. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed that the camera was not rated for infrared light!
I ended up sending both the light source and the camera back and bought the Vantrue N2 Pro Dual. This is a FANTASTIC camera. I won’t quote the specs because they are all in the description, it has an amazing field of view on both cameras and extremely high-resolution video capture (1080p in dual camera mode) with all the features of the first camera I bought and more. I also purchased the GPS module. This is a really cool addition to the camera that also helps to set it apart from the rest. It superimposes your exact GPS coordinates into the video along with your speed. There is a really cool software package available to give you map imagery coordinated with your video. The camera will allow you to insert your license plate number which is also superimposed on the video.
In summary, other “dual dash” cameras claim to be a perfect fit for Uber and Lyft drivers but beware, only cameras that specifically state that they are infrared (IR) capable with an integrated IR light source (LEDs) are truly rated to capture images in complete darkness. If you go with a camera that is not rated for IR you will find that unless you are in a brightly lit area, or it is daylight, you will not be able to capture what is going on inside your car!
If I were to find any fault with this particular camera it would be the following:
• Memory card is NOT included. Most of the cheaper cameras come with one (~$13.00 for 32GB)
• GPS is not built in and costs another $22.00
• I would prefer a rearview mirror mount. The ideal position for this camera to mount would be just below the rearview mirror. The suction cup mounts can’t facilitate this
. This camera is on the high end in cost, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.

N2 Pro X 2Reviewed in the United States
This is my second N2 Pro, as I was impressed by the ease of use, setup, installation and of course video quality that I purchased another. First N2 Pro was a gift from about two years ago that in the beginning I was concerned about the window mount not staying secure causing some road jitter. I contacted customer support about my concerns and they rushed out a replacement mount and some tips on keeping mount secure.
The new N2 Pro updated firmware to accept the 128 Gb, of which I was reimbursed for as one of there promotions, has put my mind at ease knowing that there will be plenty of recording space/time, I do have 64 Mb Micro SD as backups. Also note that the mount has been redesigned to lock the camera in place, eliminating the road jitter.

Note: G-Sensor, I can’t say, but I strongly suspect this came into play as I was traveling down the freeway and had Bird Strike. Thinking this would have been stored in the Normal directory I searched in that time frame, unable to locate I reviewed the Event directory and low and behold I located and reviewed the footage. I was able to verify that the bird did survive the glancing blow by reviewing the forward and rear-facing camera footage to see that it flew away.

The takeaway here is that you can trust in the quality and performance as well as the responsiveness of customer support. I do plan on keeping both N2 Pro’s, updating the firmware on the older and us it in my second vehicle.

Overall it is worthy to buy if reach out my expecting operation periodReviewed in the United States
Got this about three weeks now,first of all I really like the design of this particular dash cam. It is not bulky and slim enough to fit under your rearview mirror without obstructing your view. The quality of this cam is really good, it does not appear to me as being cheaply made. Although the functionality is something to get used too once you familiarize yourself with it, you will not need to adjust settings going forward.
The night version is clear even in dark roadways.With 24hours parking mode but needs constant power supporting.Used the voice recording function which is clear sound quality. The suction cup mount is very strong and keeps the cam stable when going over rough terrain. Unfortunately it doesn’t come with SD card ,but for this price and quality, if lasts for three years will be worthy!
