FAQ

How to upgrade the firmware?

Dear Customer,

Please follow the Steps below to upgrade your device:

1.     Download the firmware file (http://vantrue.net/Support/detail/id/47.html) to your PC;

2.     Format you microSD card on the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer through the USB port on the camera. Copy the firmware file (in .bin format) to the microSD card, then unplug the camera from the computer and turn it off;

Note: the firmware file (in .bin format) could not be recognized by computer, it could just be recognized by the dash cam, so don’t try to open it on PC, just copy it to the card.

3.     Plug the camera to a power charger (not computer), or press the power button;

4.     Then the camera will auto upgrade, and it will take about 30 secs to 1 min, during this time, the camera will not turn on and will not respond to any button or operation;

5.     Once the dash cam upgraded successfully, it will turn on and work.

6.     Please have a check the version of your device now (go to the System Setup menu and turn to the Version) and see if it is VTN2Pro8F.V21_IQ. If it is, then the camera has been upgraded successfully.

7.     Format the microSD card when the update has been completed, or the camera will upgrade itself everytime when it detects the firmware file in the card.

Update Note:

Fixed the bug of rear camera’s voice recording when loop recording is off.

Thank you!

Buy at least a 128 gig micro SD cardReviewed in the United States
Awesome camera. Bought 4, one for each car in the family. Read all the 1,800 reviews or just a few, this is a great camera that does some pretty cool things. What I don’t like is that it does not come with a micro SD card. That’s like buying a new car without gas in the tank. A good cordless drill with no batteries. Vantrue how much would it cost you to add a 64-gig card, $5? Not smart and the reason for losing one star. Buy at least a 128 gig, the one they recommend. Another $20 on Amazon.

 I'm satisfied with this camera.Reviewed in the United States
Step one in the Quick Start Guide says to charge the unit for 2hrs before using. I noticed that there is nothing indicating that the device is actually charging, so I just shut it off and timed it for 2hrs. Come to find out when the power button is red, its charging and shuts off when fully charged.

What I don't like about this device is that you must connect it to a computer in order to delete videos that you don't need. Also parking mode is for the front cam only which is kind of retarded. Other than that, I don't have any other complaints, I'm satisfied with my purchase!

*Keep in mind that I'm reviewing this the day after setting it up. Hopefully everything goes well over time!

Turns off anytime I put an SD card in it ...Reviewed in the United States
Turns off anytime I put an SD card in it. I've tried two cards, a SanDisk PIxtor and a Samsung Evo Plus. Both 64GB, both formatted to FAT32. Camera still turns off as soon as I insert the card. Haven't been able to get ahold of customer service yet. Will update review if I get it working.

-UPDATE-
I've bumped this up to 4 stars as I finally got it working. I had to find a very specific sdcard formatter to get this working. My normal go to's I've used for many other product (HPsdformater for one) would not work. Just google Fat32formatter and it should be the first result. That one finally got my card working.

Motion detection too sensitive in Parking ModeReviewed in the United States
I like everything about this unit (I bought the GPS to go with it) except for a few things. My major complaint is that it triggers recording at the tiniest of changes in what it sees in parking mode. If a tree down the street moves in the wind and covers a streetlight, it records. On a windy night, it records continuously and needlessly. Next complaint is that it's suction cup mount lets go about once a week. I've cleaned the window and cup. Warm sun usually causes it to fall. Finally, it refuses to connect to my AC powered laptop that seems to work pretty well with everything else. It connects as Mass Storage but immediately shuts down. Works fine on a different computer. With all this, I still like it. I'd give it 4 stars if it was less sensitive in parking mode. I'd add another if it wouldn't fall off the windshield. If it would automatically set the time from its GPS, it would then be perfect.
