Good Image QualityReviewed in the United States on January 6, 2021
tl;drPros:- good picture quality- secure mount (after a few attempts) means less bouncy footage- extra long cable for rear camera- capacitor power works (doesn't cut out while driving)- night recordings in car work wellCons:- no bluetooth or wifi clip downloading, must remove micro SD card- i've seen the color briefly look odd for a few seconds in some videos, unsure if that's cloud coverage or the camera sensor, lasts a few seconds and haven't noticed a pattern for when it happensI purchased the vantrue n4 because I recently bought a new car and was looking for a dashcam to give me peace of mind in case of an accident. I decided on this N4 package because it offered both the front and rear camera, as well as the optional in-car camera. I figure I can use the in-car footage if I need to, otherwise I've got 1440 and 1080 front and rear.Video quality was my main concern, and the N4 delivers great quality even when recording with all 3 cameras. Front camera recording at night is still good and I can read the STOP text on a stop sign. Rear camera recording at night is less good, but still good enough that I can make out cars in both of my blindspots. Overall, even without recording on only the main camera to achieve the highest resolution, I find the quality to meet my needs.I didn't look forward to installing the camera because I knew it would involve running wires under my car's trim, and I was unsure if I would need to remove any trim pieces. Thankfully with a lot of pushing and delicate lifting I was able to hide the cables for both the power and the rear camera under my trim and weather stripping while only a few inches of cable are exposed at various junctions where the trim meets dashboard or solid A-pillar. Installation took me around 30 minutes total and I found it to be easier than expected, though I had sore fingers from pressing the cable into tight spots for a few minutes. I also had a bit of trouble getting the window mount to secure, but I found that holding a lot of pressure while locking the mount secured it well after my 6th or 7th try. After driving for a bit I did need to reposition the camera slightly by turning it in order to reduce glare from the headlights of cars behind me. Also be aware that the camera does not rotate 360 degrees on the mount, it's got about a 120 degree arc so I recommend positioning the camera toward the center of the area it can rotate in when mounting so you can tweak the positioning without forcing yourself to re-mount it.If I could change one thing about the camera it would be adding bluetooth or wifi syncing so I don't have to remove the micro SD card to obtain footage. I read reviews before purchasing and knew this wouldn't be included, and for my purposes of essentially insuring myself in the case of a crash it wasn't a deciding factor for me, but it would be much more convenient to be able to review or download footage directly from the dashcam rather than being forced to remove the micro SD card.Feb 2021 update: It appears the color problems I was seeing were caused by the fact that I hadn't removed the adhesive lens protection that ships on the camera. After removing it the color seems fine.
