So a few things I do not like about this dash cam.First off- I REALLY wanted to like this cam.Granted- i've only had it for a few hours- and this is my first dash cam. So take this review with that in mind. The car that I have is a 2012 Acura TSX. Having that said. There is no really inconspicuous place to mount this thing that doesn't distract me or inhibit my field of view. This is mostly due to the mount. The should offer a low profile mount of sorts that would allow me to mount it at the very top of my windshield. (pictures will follow)Second gripe. There is a little red light that blinks on it- I understand this is to show that it's recording, but there is no way to turn this off! During the day it's not an issue...But at night. It's ridiculous. My eyes kept being drawn to the the blink. Very distracting.Like I said- I wanted to like this cam. I was like a kid on Christmas when I got it. Maybe my expectations were too high? Who knows...but I do know that this thing isn't worth paying $200+ for.
First thing I noticed after opening the box was how well organized the box was (in picture). The user manual on top; and three smaller boxes, one for camera, another for the cables and last one for the mount. The manual is clear on how to attach the mount on the camera, so look at them before you break the lock on mount.I used Samsung EVO 3 memory card and it asked me to format it first, and was able to record both front and back stream on the card. I usually turn off the back camera and use the front camera with 2160p resolution which come out pretty goodI really didn’t like the complex locking mechanism on the mount, I believe it should be easy to do it without looking at the manual. And for this price I was expecting a free hardwire kit too ;)
This was my first time purchasing a dash camera. It was easy to set up and and use. The video quality for the forward facing camera and rear the rear facing camera is amazing. i would recommend this dash cam to anyone who is looking for a dash camera and peace of mind while driving on the road.
Hi ive been using this dash cam for the past 1 week all i can say is its worth it! The recording is really clear and the voice too.. its easy to install user friendly. The texture of the product is really solid compare to other dash cam. Why i purchased this? Its because i do grocery delivery at least if something went wrong i have proof. I wish i can post the same video but ill just update it when i figure it out how to download it.
Had been using a fairly bulky dash cam on my ride for the past year and decided it was finally time to upgrade after nearly getting in multiple accidents and the license plate of the other car nearly being unreadable. Granted it was like 720p on the last one in the dark so finally decided to upgrade to a higher quality build.Upon doing research I found that this one had just barely been released so I decided to go with the bright new shiny camera as it being new has to be the best of best ofcourse hahaBeen running it for a few days and already much happier with the quality, ability to watch the clips on the camera itself, and no annoying sound effects apart from the general button pushing which i was pleased to find out i can lower. The amount of features on this bad boy are impressive, next thing I need to do is hardwire this in to make the wire completely gone but wow what an improvement!
This dashcam works with the OBD to USB C connector which can be purchased separately. Or else you can get the hardwire kit to splice it into your fuse box. With either of these, it is possible to use parking mode. I highly suggest this setup as you can practically hide all the wires. The parking mode is pretty much this: The camera will turn on automatically to capture a few seconds of video when your car is off. This can be triggered by a collision detection, motion sensor, or a combination of both. I found that sometimes the rain on the windshield will trigger the motion sensor. I set it to only collision detection. The act of opening my car door was enough to trigger this, which I think is a good thing in case someone breaks into your car and decides to not take the dashcam. The G Sensor could be a little sensitive. Set to the lowest sensitivity (1 out of 5), a very small bump in the road will still trigger it. On a 15 minute drive to the store, it triggered once. However, I took a longer drive later on and it did not trigger at all, so I'm not sure how it works. The nightvision for the cabin camera is great. It shifts seamlessly, and everything is pretty clear and detailed, although it is in black and white. If someone broke into your car, you would definitely be able to see their face.I have the front camera at 1440p and the cabin camera at 1080p 30fps. You can configure them to be anywhere from 1440 to 720p. If you only configure to use the front camera, you can also have it set to 4K. The front and cabin videos are saved as 2 separate videos, and not PiP view. 15 minutes worth of driving in addition to a whole night worth of parking mode videos (I live on a busy street) took up 20GB on the card. I'm not sure if this matters much, as the data rewrites over itself. This comes with a GPS mount, which will send GPS details (speed, location) over to the main unit. In the software you can choose to disable this if you want. You can also choose to power the unit by directly plugging the USB C cable into either the dashcam itself, or just the mount.Attached is a video from the front facing camera. I would also attach the video from the cabin camera, but Amazon only lets me upload 1 video per review. Instead, I took a screenshot. Also attached are pictures of how the cable could be routed cleanly to eliminate the clutter, and what the camera looks like from the outside. Overall, I think this is a great product, especially for the price. Some things I would like to see in the future:- Motion Sensor that is not affected by rain- Better tuning for the G Sensor- Better swivel flexibility for the GPS mount. It's definitely sufficient to capture the front of the car. However, if a LEO pulls you over, I would love to be able to turn the dashcam to face the side window. Unfortunately the mount can't do that.
This is an excellent dashcam that includes all the functions such as motion detection and parking protection. Overall a great product that everyone should have for overall protection. Brilliant video clarity as well. Excellent seller.
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
