This survived tremendous abuse that other dashcams couldn't.Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2019
I travel cross country by car a lot, and I've gone through quite a lot of dashcams. They all work great the first few weeks, but when you park the car under the desert sun in 110f heat or leave them overnight in subzero temperatures, they tend to not work properly or even power on when you start the car. I've probably gone through 15 of them in the last 10 years of traveling from coast to coast in North America. It's been about 5 months and this thing survived days being left in a parked car in Death Valley as well as nights being parked in the frigid weather 12,000ft up. A few times the suction cup mount had fallen down in the extreme heat, but that's a physics problem, not poor product design. As for the quality, it's just fine for both the inside and outside cameras. You can clearly see what's going on, and it's fine enough to make out license plates. The 4K works just fine, but I've opted to use 1080p since that's more than enough resolution for a standard dash cam. Is this camera going to be used for a feature film? No. It's simply something you want to keep record in case of an accident or notable incident. It was easy enough to install and the UI is easy to figure out. I do appreciate the LCD screen a whole lot as it lets me know if the mirror is obstructing the camera too much.Finding a feature-packed dashcam on Amazon is not difficult. The issue with them is the cameras not functioning non-stop, through the environmental extremes from the interior of a vehicle, after months or years of use. This dash cam is the first to pass that test, and it's the first one I've taken the time to review. If you want a dashcam that you can install and not worry about, the Vantrue N2 is your best bet.
