2nd unit (upgraded). Long time user. Detailed review.Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2019
After 4 weeks of using this product, I feel like I have enough time with this product to give it an accurate review.I have had a Vantrue device in my car for almost 3 years ‘til I upgraded to this item. My original device was “Vantrue X2 Dash Cam -2.5K Super HD 1440P Dash Cam 2.7" LCD 170° Wide Angle Car Camera Video Recorder with G-Sensor”I have had zero issues and the device has always recorded automatically as planned. I have never had to mess with the camera. It has always worked. I upgraded to this camera for the extra features and rear cam (I drive minors often for my work).PROS:Easily upgraded from my last Vantrue cam (same adapter/MiniUSB).Great clarity of video day and night. The light processing is better than most.Mount works much better than the original. Seems much more robust and stable (my old one I had to tighten and reposition about once a year).Much easier access to the MicroSD card slot (can remove it without removing the camera no problem).Super clear LCD screen.Robust casing.Able to take the heat of Northern California summers.Has G-sensor and manual “lock” button to lock a video down so it cant be recorded over in the case of an “incident.”Comes with a suction cup base that easily detaches from the power source (makes it very easy to take on and off if you’d like to without unravelling your whole power cord setup).CONS:Attractive (to thieves) more-so than older-looking versions. Personally, I’d rather have a junky-looking camera because having an expensive camera on my window puts me less at ease. (but… I do cover it up with my sun shade very easily.Wider than cameras without a rear camera.1440P works only during single front camera mode. But 2x1080P is enough for me.Other notes:I have attached my videos of the camera. I am going to have to clean my window and upload a new one, but for how incredibly dirty my window is, the video comes out great.I have attached pictures of my setup. I am using a class 4 Kingston card which is recommended against, but I have had zero issues with the speed and stability of the card.5 minutes of 1080P video comes out to 420MB per video (so multiply that x2 if you are running the inner cam). 5 minutes of 1440P video is about double this amount.Cord is plenty long enough to wrap all the way around the passenger trim, behind the glove box, and into either the cigarette lighter or the fuse box (if that’s how you’d rather wire it).In my setup (shown), the driver does not see the camera (intentionally hidden by rear view mirror) and the only cord you can see is from the head liner to the device itself.
