Good Uber/Lyft Dash Cam, Only OK Exterior CameraReviewed in the United States on June 20, 2019
Background on my use case: I am a part time uber/lyft driver and was looking for a dash cam for incidentals in the event there was something that happened either on the inside or the outside of my vehicle. This dash cam was highly rated on Amazon and the price seemed fair for what it advertised. I've been using the dash cam for a while now and wanted to take a moment to share my experience.Pros:- Dual cameras to capture interior and exterior- Microphone to capture interior sound- Small battery to capture during parking mode- Good interior image quality during day and night time (IR lights)- High end feelCons:- Outward facing camera is pretty mediocre during the day time. Details are a little fuzzy, but you could probably make out a license plate if it's very close and the weather is good.- Outward camera is really not great at all during night time. Everything is washed out and you really only get the "big picture" type events captured.So, what's the verdict? I hesitantly recommend this camera. If you're a part-time uber/lyft driver like me and are more concerned about capturing interior events, this is the camera for you. If you really want crisp detail for exterior events, my recommendation is to either pair this dash cam with another one that has a higher resolution or image quality [I purchased the 4k camera from the same manufacturer (Vantrue) and have had very good results] or to look to a different camera all together.I am posting image captures from the exterior view. I will not be posting interior images for privacy reasons.
