Great dual dashcam with good picture quality and good featuresReviewed in the United States on June 19, 2019
I got the dashcam to replace an older version that was only 720p and more on entry level side (Nextar). Saw this one here and did some research online. All external testing and reviews gave it good ratings with good picture quality so I decided to get it and fully test it.I give it 4 stars because it is a great camera (quality, dual camera, parking sentry mode) but a few things are missing to be perfect (sync, an app).It arrived quickly and was well packaged with all the items as expected. Out of the box I liked the suction cup style instead of an adhesive type like the one I had previously (I got to unglue the mount of my previous dashcam somehow...). Manual was OK. I was hoping for a bit more details on what the features actually do. They tell you what you can change but not necessarily what they actually mean in terms of performance or video file size, etc. But that's being picky. The camera itself is quite nice and compact and sit behind the interior rear view mirror. I tested and set it to be dual front and inside cameras at 1080p30 as I wanted to get somewhat a view of the back of the car without having to set up a dual cam with one mounted on the back window. Too bad it can't do more modes such as full resolution front and let's say 720p inside/rear. I would have liked that mode.I really like the parking mode as well. I plugged mine to a port in my car that is always powered even when the car is off so I can use the parking mode (I have not see any problem with battery draining so far). I like it very much as it records very short clips when it detect movement around the car. The downside is that it creates *a lot* of files on the SD card (started with a 32Gb but just bought a 128Gb). No big deal. It really feels like a proper sentry mode. That was actually one of the main reason why I went for this dashcam. Time will tell if it is helpful but I am pleased so far with how that works. It was a bit hard for me to find a good location for it because the interior rear view mirror will always be in the way of the interior camera a bit it seems unless I really shift the camera toward the passenger side. But that's minor inconvenience. I can see through the back window and I don't particularly need so see my face on all these videos anyway....The one thing I wish it had is an app with some sort of pairing mode via wifi or bluetooth so the camera can automatically sync critical events on the fly with my phone and then my phone can push then to the cloud for safekeeping without any input from me. This would be incredibly useful if let's say I get in a crash and the car or dashcam ares not accessible to retrieve the videos! A way to remotely change settings or review videos in the app would also be great.Overall very happy with the purchase and it a big upgrade from my previous dashcam.
