The camera design is nice and the picture quality is good. The rear cam requires sticker application. However, the rear camera also did not work, as the screen displayed no rear view at all. The SD card also showed no rear footage recorded but the front and the interior. I tried to upgrade the firmware as the manufacturer website instructed without avail. I would not rate 5 star or recommend anyone to pay this much money for a faulty camera.
We bought this product for our daughter for Christmas. So far so good. It was easy to install and the picture quality is good. Definitely worth the price.
My dash cam failed last fall. After three months or use, it started continual rebooting on initialization. On initial power the unit started it's initialization and immediately beeped and rebooted. It failed to start working.I've been communicating with vantrue for -months- with a never ending series of requests to try this or change that. Whomever is making up the inane list of demands to investigate should be removed from that job. I think they are trying to wearout me and others that have bad dashcams rather than replacing f*ing units.Dear Vantrue engineer: It's likely on first power to the processor the start up sequence recognizes a critical failure such that the unit decides to beep a critical warning and reboot itself. Intermittent (not consistent) critical failures in complex devices like this almost always have a root cause of bad solder joint (lead free dross) or bad connection on some very small internal connector. Look at your connectors (you did not use quality connectors with gold plating) and some connector built up resistance from microfracture or no longer has a good connection. Since it -never- happens while running after startup the fault is due to initialization checks from the processor asking other smart device if the other device is ok (camera) and receiving a garbled reply or no reply in time. In the bad solder case, the board house probably already has a record of what connections it has a problem soldering (I always knew all marginal quality processes when I ran a circuit board assembly plant) and your board house lies to you about everything is ok and does not take the time to fix their failure. You should be able to find the problem with a good microscope and access to suspect boards quickly. In the case of connector look at all possible failures on initialization that causes a reboot (there will be only one or two things like processor to camera or camera asic chip or internal power rail) and then the connectors between the processor and those components. Anything cheap or not gold plated is suspect. Finally, you could fix this problem by removing the code that requires a reboot if critical fault is discovered and to go ahead and boot. Since this is not used for driver vision there is no functional safety requirement for guarantied operation while driving. Still your failure. In any case, vantrue, any fault this can possibly be is your fault and you need to honor the warranty and not F* with your customers..I contacted amazon and went through the history of trying to work with this company. Amazon is replacing the unit. F* you, vantrue for running me around.A review of the unit when it works: If you ever look back at video you will find glare on night recordings for any camera. The button to press to tell save recording is hard to find when as a driver you see things getting weird and want a record. I want to turn off sound in the cab. On the plus side, the price is right, you do get a front, rear and cab record. The image quality is poor when you have all three cameras recording. One of the worst issues: The parking mode does not work. See the first question on that thing that points out the car battery will be drained in a couple days by this camera and the cutoff does not work. Vantrue lies about parking mode protecting the car. I would have liked that work and counted on it.
It only records a minute or two. I have it for over 4 months and the format card message never goes away. I tried many different settings and it doesn’t work. Waste of money! Avoid this item.
This camera is wonderful. The picture quality is superb and it is easy to use. I forgot to remove it during a snow storm and my truck was covered in snow in 10 degree weather. The camera started up right away when I was able to drive my truck. I needed a longer cable and contacted Vantrue who immediately responded and had one sent to me free of charge. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend this camera and this company.
Overall, this device works fine as what it is intended to do (dash cam). Setting up caused no issues. Had a few issues though with it's suction cup mount. Damn thing nearly falls almost every other day. I've cleaned the windshield plenty of times and made sure to apply the correct pressure, but just won't stay up. For the price, I wish this had an app to access footage wirelessly. This one you can only access by removing the micro SD card. When the card fills up, it asks you to format the card so it can start recording it again. I've had other dash cams in the past that just auto delete oldest clips to make space. Overall, if you are spending $150+ for a dash cam, look elsewhere. Only consider this one when on sale.
I wanted a dashcam for my Jeep Wrangler and the Vantrue N4 has features that I like. I have read reviews and different forums saying that dashcams aren't vehicle specific. Well from what I've seen, some dashcams doesn't look like they would work on a windshield that's short in height and flat. I like the N4 because it has three cameras, suction cup mount, not very big and it's under $400.00. I'm also happy with the video quality so far and I say that because the rear camera isn't installed yet. Now the one thing that I don't like is, the G sensor sensitivity had to be turned down to 1 because hitting the slightest bump will save a clip in the event file. But that may be due my Jeep is rough riding or maybe the my N4 needs a software update. I haven't tried all of the N4's features yet but I'm happy with my choice. The reason for my ratings is what I know about the Vantrue so far as I've only had it a few days.
easy to install and good picture quality. I was expecting the park-mode to detect motion around the car (with the kit installed) and record, it does not do that so lacking a basic motion sensor. I went around the car and it did not trigger anything.Recorded files don't play back well. frequent freezes, showing the same images regardless of what file is selected, etc. I used a 256k samsung card as recommended but it's good if you want to record while you're in the car driving if you can get it to play back the file
I was very impressed on how easy this camera system was to install. I was a little worried at first that the cable for the rear camera was not going to be long enough as I was installing it in a minivan but it worked perfectly. I also purchased the Vantrue 256 gig SD card which works great with the camera system. I would recommend the N4 system to anyone.
I have a Lyft Driver this is absolutely perfect I had a lady that was drunk in my car and I’m glad I had it in case she really got out of hand I could have it all recorded
Is very expensive and very bad product. People can buy 50$ dash cash cam with same performance or maybe better performance. Don’t lose money and time with that product
The Vantrue is one of the most competitive, affordable dash cams available today. With the camera included you have an almost 360-degree record of whatever might happen in traffic.
Ok, the camera quality is good, but the three stars is for the pain of taking the camera off or taking the sim card out so I can transfer the video to my pc.I installed it to the right of my rear view mirror and its so difficult to take this thing off every time.
I bought another brand from Bestbuy which had a 32G card and 3 way cam. It had voice function too. Both the quality is same but this lacked the crucial feature and edge. With voice we can tell to take photo, video, lock video or off/on screen at critical moments where in this we have search and press button which is not a great thing (video will be on running anyway). It does not have a memory card which is also one minus. The software UI is great which is good and looks stylish and is sleek.I would recommend it but just not for me.
I am very happy with my Vantrue purchase! I have had it for over one year now, and it is still working like a charm! I got the 3 camera view of Front, Rear and Cabin. It is really a great product that gives you more security and confidence as you are driving, knowing that all is captured on video. And above all, their customer service is awesome! They answer any question you have by E-mail and share with you photos and suggestions to any problem you may have. And their answer is very prompt (within 24 hours). I would recommend this product to anybody who needs a dashcam. .
Just installed today, the camera quality is great. It’s easy to use so far, installation was easy enough. Using the cigarette lighter for now, but will maybe connect it to the fuse later. The picture quality is great, can’t wait to use it some more. But 4 stars for now because the suction cup doesn’t work well at all. It kept falling off everyone 10 min while driving. Will update once my experience gets better, staying positive.
Worked great for a few months then all of a sudden the dash cam started clicking in use. Finally frozen after an update.I ordered a new microsd card and the same issue happened. No help from support today after I sent them a video of the problem as they requested. It’s just frozen on the update screen no matter what I do.
Order this model because I do lyft part time and I have been rear ended before. This come in real handy when car insurance give you a run around or if the the other party lies. Great product so far.
I would of rated this dash cam 5 stars however it will randomly freeze and stop recording. I initially had an EVO SD card then moved over to a Sandisk ENDURANCE SD card. I was still having the same issue and contacted Vantrue. They recommended I use their proprietary Vantrue SD card. After purchasing their costly SD card I still ran into the same issues with the dash cam freezing and not recording. I updated the dash cam to the latest firmware and have reformatted the SD card multiple times. I really like the picture quality and the 3 recording Channels however it no where near reliable as it can’t make it 48 hours with out a fault.
Wife received this for Christmas. So far the camera has been great for us. Some people complain that it is not wifi or bluetooth but we do not have a problem with that. Sure, it would be nice, but taking the sd card out of the camera an watching the video on my phone is simple. Also, with the correct usb cable, the camera can be plugged directly to my cell phone. So 1 or 2 extra steps to retrieve a video is not problem. Install (hiding wires like a pro) took a couple of hour in a minivan. If you are not comfortable taking apart your car then I would not recommend installing yourself or recommend watching youtube. In general, we are happy with the camera.
The Vantrue N4 Dash Cam looks to be made of great quality, has easy to understand directions and very was easy to install. I have never installed a dash cam before, so I was a little hesitant at first to try this on my own. However, the instructions were super simple and easy to follow along. It took me less than an hour to take everything out of the box, install it and get it up and running. I also ordered the OBD connector with mine because I wanted to use the parking feature. Again, there was no issue with installing that as well. I have only had the N4 installed for a few days, so I will update my review later on if I discover anything else. However, as of right now, I am pleased with it.
There were several dash cams I’ve tested and returned. I came across this one however and so far I like it. East to navigate on the screens and the quality is pretty good.
I installed this with the hardwire fuse option. Other than a small learning curve to get up and running, presume all positive reviews are correct. Owned it for a couple weeks now and have caught several idiots in my town. Great for protection against stupid drivers, side benefit of a quality entertainment source. Other than the fuse hardwire kit, look onto the GPS mount to include that data on your files.
I bought this product last month and installed in my Toyota Sienna 2021. I have enabled parking feature as well, however remote performance has impacted and the remote system not working from the far range. Even can't operate from 10 feet of distance. However when I turn off the camera power, the remote works fine as normal. Please advise if somebody help on this
01/17/22 Update: replaced the OBD cable with the charging cable that came with the dash cam and now it is recording consistently. It seems the OBD cable was not providing enough of a charge to keep the camera on(?). Updating my rating to 4-stars and moving the 1-star review over to the listing for the OBD cable.---------01/15/22 Update: it is definitely not recording consistently. I'm seeing significant gaps (20-30 minutes) during my drives. Will be removing this dashcam for the time being and using my old one. Not sure if I have a defective one, but it's only about 5 months old.---------The dashcam is pretty good overall, but I've noticed it will stop recording at times. Not sure why (maybe an issue with the internal battery where it dies, but I've got this connected to the OBD port, so that shouldn't be a problem). Either way, I would obviously be upset if it turned out not to be recording at the time of an accident, so I'm debating whether to replace this with something else.
Image is good build quality is bad I inserted the Micro SD card and it sank into the dashcam. Unable to be used now. If you purchase this make sure you don't plan to remove the SD card once you put it in or you might lose your investment.Update I was able to put a new card in the slot and it works even with the other card inside it somewhere. It works and does the job. I'm changing my rating to 4 since it work despite complications.
This is the first time I have installed a Dash Cam in my new Honda Ridgeline. I really like the picture quality and the ability to record three different areas while driving and when my truck is parked/on standby. I plan to also use my dash cam when I go on road trips to record the beauty of different states and the places we have traveled.
The dashcam works fine, some have said that it isn't 4K, but it is indeed 4K you just have certain settings for combinations of quality with the 3 cameras.I use the 4k (front) with 1080p (back) as that gives me what I need with good quality and saves space on my sd card.I use it with a Sandisk 256gb card and it works just fine. Also make sure all cables are pushed in all the way etc etc, basically just make sure you troubleshoot correctly if you are having any problems.
If you want something doesn’t work correctly all time buy this camera, it stop working while I’m driving is like its get out of power but the connection is ok is a bad product in overall.
So far, I really like this dash camera. My installer had no issues setting it up and hardware kit wiring is relatively unobtrusive. The look is modern and the color and resolution are both excellent. The human-machine interface is simple, clear, and has good feedback. The dash camera's settings itself are highly configurable. Online customer support has been very responsive to inquiries. Note- this dash camera needs to be hardwired to the battery to use the parking mode feature (which has a feature to prevent your battery from draining and only recording for collision and motion detection).
It was a good camera system, until the MicroSD card popped out on its own when I came back to my car, thus rendering the N4 useless...Luckily, my N4 was still under the 1 year warranty and the customer support was amazing. Jennifer was very helpful and sent me a new N4. Great job Jennifer!Overall, I love the N4. Very clear videos on all channels. The parking mode should be tweaked a bit more in my opinion.. Hopefully, new firmware will fix that. Great product; I would purchase again.
We wanted a dashcam with multiple channels and collision detection to guarantee no issues arise with an insurance claim. My wife was in a bad accident a few months prior to the purchase and of course the insurance company was dragging their feet and flat out lying to us. What should have taken 2 weeks max took 2 months to payout. If I had this dashcam, it would have been over in a week without needing an attorney. Oh well, you live and you learn. I feel completely safe with this dashcam. After extensive research I decided on the Vantrue N4. It's easy to hardwire in most vehicles. I had it hardwired in a 2015 Toyota Corolla but I have yet to hardwire it in a 2021 Dodge 1500 SLT since there is a firewall with no fuses in the cab. The camera runs in 5 minute loops and has adjustable collision detection that saves video to the memory card. Everything from the video quality to how many active camera you want to use can be changed. In some vehicles, the camera (in parking mode may) kill the battery if the vehicle is idle for too long. If my Corolla went more than a day without starting, I would have to jump it. I did purchase an external Stanley battery jump kit for reassurance. It seems my 2021 Dodge Ram has no problems with the camera plugged into the USB along with an external gps and turned on all day. There is a GPS mount available for purchase that timestamps location and speed. As always read all the inserts and learn everything you can about this gps. I also think it's a good idea to bring a laptop with you that has a slot for sd cards if you need to upload your video following an accident. I've heard of people giving their sd card to the cops and they have had issues retrieving the video afterwards. Protect yourself, say nothing and let the video tell the story.
This camera would be perfect with a different mount. It's that plastic(y) mind of cheap suction cup instead of the good rubber style. It won't stick in really cold weather or big temp changes.
Overall, its an amazing dash came than the others. Its recording system and quality as expected. Only mobile app and wifi is not available but it doesn’t matter. My main motive is to capture real scenes while i m traveling in Northern hill stations etc. aldo along with security as well. I am much satisfied with the camera and picture and video quality. Front Camera actually 4K and cabin and rear cam also HD but i can manipulate as per my need. This is awesome. I am really happy for this investment.
After much research, I decided on the Vantrue N4 3 channel dash cam. It’s my first dash cam and my experience with this one has been pretty good. Installation into my truck was much easier than I first thought. I was able to get it installed and wires hidden in about 2 hours. The image quality for all three cameras is very good. I have decided to use all three cameras for now and I am using Samsung extreme 256gb memory card which seems to function very with the camera. So far, I am very pleased with the whole experience. The quality of the the unit, the ease of install/configuration, and the superb image quality. I look forward to using it for a long time and being ready whenever I may need it.
I really like my camera I got it installed professionally. I am satisfied with the product I have not removed it to check the picture recorded. I will very soon. Thank you
After 1 year it suddenly only shows the inside camera. Updated firmware to latest release as of 1/1/22 and now its stuck in a reboot loop saying it succeeded.
the quality is good and i can see the license during the day and at night just fine. but there is a few files that keeps getting corrupted that i want to review and it says doesnt support format or corrupted file. my car got hit twice and recorded corrupted files when i have the camera on and should be recording. im looking else where for another camera. id say dont buy this one.
Details: 3 camera setup (front, rear, interior). This is my first ever dash cam.We got this on the recommendation of my in-laws and they've enjoyed theirs. I've only used this camera for one trip so far, locally to ensure it's working. I was able to pull the videos off of the camera onto my computer no problem. The "Event" protection also seems to work well, I hit a bump in the road and the clip that recorded it was preserved.Running the rear camera under the car trim was a bit of a chore, but wasn't as much hassle as I expected it to be, honestly. The package came equipped with a little plastic pry bar to assist in this process, too.My only real complaint isn't even with the hardware itself, the website is hard to navigate to get to the registration and camera software (each camera saves a separate video file, and the Vantrue software will combine them together and display the map data if you have the GPS module etc).
I have to agreed its look easy but it freaking sucks. Need download flimware and you have unzip it again for normal person who don't own computer or any device to connect forget about the download. And I reorder the product because rear Camara doesn't work and still same problem so I'm returning . Done with product.
I got the camera for obvious dash cam reasons. It’s good all around; however it causes my car battery to die. I’ve had my battery replaced and my alternator checked and it comes back to an accessory draining it at night. It kinda sucks not being able to use the camera at night, but not being able to drive in the morning sucks more. I know some cameras have a built-in voltage limiter, but it keeps eating away at it. I had to get the battery replaced because the battery voltage was at 8 V. Recently, the battery drained to 11 V, and that was after 1 night.
After I installed this in my vehicle, I thought I had a defective rear camera. It turns out that I neglected to line up the ridges on the connector. Amazon support was great and wanted to send me another Vanture N4. After looking at my install again, I noticed that it was my error by not inserting the rear camera correctly into the extension cable. With the above corrected, I cancelled the replacement order and must say that this is an amazing piece of technology. When I connected the camera to my PC, the video quality is superb. The GPS is a nice add-on. I wanted a great Dash cam and the Vanture N4 did not disappoint!
There is no connective wires that would connect this camera and your computer if you have a new Apple product. Which makes this camera absolutely useless. What is the point of recording if you cannot view or share the video?
This video camera was very easy to install and run the wires in my 2015 Ford Explorer Limited. The only thing I would like to see change is the monitor size. With a 2.5" screen it is difficult to see anything on it when you have front, rear and interior views on. I run with front and rear which is a little better but not much. The only other issue I have which isn't the manufacturer's problem, is the rear camera. It workd good and the 3M tape is great but my back window is at an angle so I had to mount the camera to the back hatch to see what is behind me instead of the sky.
I bought an extra 512MB memory card and for some reason, this camera, no matter the settings, keeps asking me to re-format my memory card. It seems to only last about 3 days.
The attached video is from the rear camera. I purchased the 256GB micro SD card and it easily stores 48 hours of extremely clear videos from all 3 cameras. I definitely recommend it!
I bought this dash cam because I wanted to previously purchase the N3 but never got to it. My first impression of the camera were great I like the features it had and maybe me liking it was due to my excitement of always wanting a Vantrue dashcam. I was disappointed and realized that this was not the dashcam I wanted when it came time to install it. The camera sat too low on my windshield and did not give discreet look. I then realized that I need a camera that would give me more features. Though you can watch the events on the camera you can not save them immediately to your phone and send to someone. I decided to purchase the VIOFO T130 for which cost about the same but let’s me access the videos on my phone at any moment I like to send it to someone. It’s not a bad camera but if you want something discrete mounted to your windshield this is not the dashcam for you.
Easy to use and set up. Transferring files to the computer is easy as well. My only complaint is this annoying and distracting clicking noise it makes. I fastened the suction cup tight. Ports are plugged tight. The screw is tight, yet I keep hearing this cheap plastic clicking sound while the car is in motion. Its distracting and annoying. It's not the camera going into night vision either. It's making the clicking sound at all times. That's my only complaint.
The camera was easy to install and has a great picture. While I was running the cord to the back the cable slipped into a hole in the frame and become irretrievable wedged. I tried for almost an hour to get it unstuck but ended up ruining it. E-mailed the company and they responded right away and I have a new cable on the way, free of charge. This is the camera to get!
So I bought this just incase a dumb driver wanted to play dumb games and win the ultimate dumb prize. Bought a 256gb samsung micro sd and footage lasts about two weeks using 4K 25fps for front and back. Pleasantly surprised with video quality. Installation was easy, suction cup going strong for last two weeks. Highly recommend.
1.The lens range covers the front, rear and interior of the vehicle for complete protection.2.Good resolution, with dedicated playback software, within a certain distance can be identified license plate.3.The small size of the camera can reduce the obstruction of the driver's line of sight.Although not necessarily the best, it can meet the needs of most people.
Due to the sensitivity of the parties involved, I can not upload a video to support what I am saying. VANTRUE dash cam really came through for me. A had an accident caused by an aggressive driver that swiped me from the side. My insurance company adjudicated a 50-50 culpability until I insisted they review the rear/cabin cameras. Then they reversed the adjudication to full culpability on the other driver. His insurance company even agreed upon reviewing the videos.I now own four (4) VANTRUE cameras of supercapacitors: I reside in a hot climate zone (South Texas)
Easy setup and works great. It’s great for my first dash cam. When I upgrade I hope to get one that can connect to my smartphone. I recommend this one as a great starter dash cam.
I had to pull one side of the headliner to install the rear view camera. I wrapped the wire in foam to prevent rattles. I had to push the wire further in so not to interfere with the airbag curtain. I hung the rearview camera on the headliner from a bracket I made. Your package is thoughtful and complete with the variety of fuse taps. I installed this in a '07 Toyota Tundra Crewmax.
Very satisfied with this multi-camera dashcam solution. Front facing picture quality is immaculate, rear camera is small with great picture quality, interior facing camera adds extra layer of security & insurance to show driver wasn't distracted/texting/sleeping/etc. Suction cup has never failed. Wiring is simple. Exporting videos is easy. For the price, you can't beat the Vantrue N4 3-camera setup! Also, really amazing customer service!!! There was a small mistake with my order: the 20ft rear camera cable extension was not included but once I reached out to Vantrue they immediately got back to me and sent me the cable extension!Look no further, this dashcam solution is one of the best out there for the money!
Cam is extremely hot and auto shutdown when in car temp reach 83f to 93f. I ask for replace but the support was asking to test, record and send to Vantrue for exam. Replacement process costs too much time. I gave up.Be aware when you use OBD cable. It does not shutdown the camera when the battery is low as Vantrue advertise. My battery drain out so I have to jump start. I stop to use the OBD cable. I am power the cam by the cigaret lighter. It is a bad product. Dont buy it. I use Viofo on other car for 4 year until now. There is no issue at all. Viofo handle heat very well.
This camera was easy to set up and has provided me with peace of mind in the event of an accident. I haven't had any issues with the camera so far after 6 months of driving. Would recommend!
It's only been a few weeks since I started using this and already the rear camera doesn't work and recording stops unexpectedly and without warning, leaving me in potentially in the dark for undisclosed amounts of time.
I had the n2pro and loved it so I decided to get this for the extra camera for what’s behind me because it could be pretty important. Luckily the back cam in cab cam work great and it’s also great I haven’t had to worry about any footage from behind me or inside the car.So yesterday I stopped at a stoplight and there was a car in the middle of a busy intersection with a guy standing next to it, I assumed his car broke down but unfortunately for some reason that intersection was was where this man chose to commit suicide. I immediately saved the footage to my dash cam and I waited and talked to police told them I caught it on my dash cam and when I tried to show them it looked so bad but I assumed it was just because it was on the little screen (even though the video from the other cameras looked good enough to see details. So I came home to make a copy of it and holy crap I was so embarrassed because I knew I’d have to give this footage to the police and you can hardly see a thing. I was right there and had a great view of the worst thing I’d ever witnessed but that was the first time I’d checked the footage because I made the mistake of trusting this company due to my previous experience with them, the footage was useless and the police saw the footage the next day and looked at me like I’m an idiot for even offering, I knew it was bad but I promised the other officer so I didn’t want to not give it to them but I absolutely regret it now almost as much as I regret putting this dash cam in my car.I’ve had the cam since April, I got it as a gift from my ex and unfortunately I gave her my good n2pro so I can’t return or exchange this. Look into another brand of dash cam.I played the video on my tv and tried to record the part I was referring to with my iPhone 12 Pro and you can still barely see what happened but without zooming in you’d never even know anything happened. I’ll try to upload a normal clip of how poor quality this thing is soon though..
The Vantrue N4 dash cam lives up to its quality. Was a bit apprehensive about the installation even after viewing videos on YouTube but it installed easily and quickly. Needed a longer cord for the rear camera and after contacting the service department was offered a 29.5 foot cable which I gladly accepted, at no cost! To sum up...great product and excellent customer service.
I left this dashcam uncharged for a week and it still record and working. Glad that the date issues on N1 was fixed on N4. Software is smooth and video quality is good overall
I live in a fast developing rural area. Between construction trucks, agricultural equipment (tractors), and oil sites we have had a lot of close calls w/ the uptick in traffic.I’ve tried a dash cam in the past but found them to be of poor image quality and lacking recording capabilities. That was about 5-6 years ago so I thought I’d give a dash cam another try.I checked a lot of reviews and settled on this vantrue 4K dash cam. I like the features of having 3 angles and a large capacity for recording. Also the footprint is much smaller than I thought it would be.Install was fairly easy and setup was simple. The only issue I ran into was card read errors. I formatted on my computer and through the dash cam but nothing worked. Samsung and other trusted brands had issues. I eventually got a card to work.So far all of the images look great (Blue and green tint at times) and records everything. I hope I never need to use the dash cam footage for anything but we feel better having some proof should we need it.
There are so many dash cams on Amazon. After reading the reviews I'm convinced that a lot of them are either fake or are paid reviews. That made it really tough to sort through! I've had a Vantrue N2 for quite a while and have used it in several vehicles. It was always reliable so after sorting through the newest camera offerings, I decided to stick with a brand I knew. I am super happy with the N4. The addition of the 3rd channel is really nice. I have mine mounted at the top of my rear window. Even with dark tinted windows, my rear channel is clear. The camera is very easy to install. It took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I do not have mine hooked up to a constant hot wire so I can't use the parking features. Set up was simple and the menus were easy to navigate. The only thing keeping this from a full 5 stars is that it doesn't have wifi/app capabilities. It would sure be awesome if you could connect wirelessly and view your clips on your phone rather than have to remove the micro sd card and view them on your computer. One trick for first timers. If you don't want to use the standard cigarette lighter plug in your dash and you also don't want to pay extra for a hardwire kit, for about 6 bucks you can buy a female cigarette adaptor, wire it directly into your fuse box and connect this camera with the standard included plug....and still have it all nicely tucked away out of site under your dash....and keep your in dash lighter plug free.
I have to say I initially got this camera because sometimes I drive Uber so it just made me feel safe knowing everything was being recorded. After receiving the camera and hooking it up I can tell you that I’m 100% happy with my purchase. the Vantrue N4 Dash cam captures everything, and with such great detail and quality. It’s worth every penny. Even great at watching the car when its parked, via the hardwire cable. I do recommend getting the 256gb Vantrue card when you buy the dash cam, as it wont record anything without it.Playback videos on your pc via the usb cord, the view is so much better, and you can look at all the angles at separate times. Sophia on the market for a dash cam the Vantrue N4 is the way to go.
First review (5 stars)I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and so far it’s been good, I almost got into a minor accident (see video of someone running the red light). The quality is pretty good! Both during the day and night time. Works like any other dash cam. Be careful installing the SD card. I somehow managed to push the SD card incorrectly & had to open the camera to be able to get it out. My only minor thing is that for the price I wish it have like an app for us to download a clip instead of going to the computer & connecting the dash cam and doing all that.Update 4/21/22,(3 stars)So I bought a second Vantrue N4, I gave my first one to someone. I went to check how the dash cam videos were looking, and I gotta say it’s very disappointing, video quality is not as good as my first Vantrue N4. If I were to compare my old Vantrue vs this “new” one, it’s pretty noticiable, specially at night. I will be requesting a replacement and then I’ll update this review.Update 05/02/22( 5 stars)I received the replacement dash cam & the quality on this one definitely looks like my first N4, love it! Been using it for a few days and No complaints on this one. Day & night quality is great!
Loved the triple cameras, front, inside and rear. All angles I needed to CMA in case of accident.Audio works as does IR for night illumination.Older laptops may give playback issues but can be manually played back by VLC media player if need be.
Everything is true in the Headline. Very easy to install. The compact design allows this camera to tuck up close to the rear view mirror. I added the GPS unit, which was inexpensive, without using any additional space. Video clarity is perfect. Choose your preferred quality setting and done, it's that easy. If you drive your vehicle daily you shouldn't have any trouble leaving the camera plugged in. If not, this camera will drain your cars battery in a couple of days. There are options to have a standalone power source if minimal use of your vehicle is a concern. Vantrue N4 camera is top notch and should be in every vehicle.
Really love the quality of the camera right down to the packaging. The camera has never had any hiccups in the few months that I’ve used it. To call it reliable is an understatement.
After wiring the rear camera, I discovered that it was not working for some reason. Before I just undo everything and returned to Amazon, I figured I’d give their Support a shot. Usually I have little luck in these situations. To my surprise they responded quickly and offered to send a replacement cable assuming the problem was that (and a low cost fix). But after I explained that I have an upcoming trip, they agreed to send me both a replacement cable AND the rear camera module. I’m glad they did because it was the camera at fault, and swapping that out fixed it..
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
