I was in a wreck on the highway. As others have mentioned as well, the camera does not record the accident when the camera is jolted, falls loose from gps mount or in a hard collision. I will verify as others have that the camera will not record and is not very durable in hard collisions. My gps camera mount broke on the camera and I asked Vantrue to repair the camera....their response was $10 off on a new camera. No repair, no replacement.... 'buy a new Vantrue on Amazon and we will send you $10 after you show us a receipt you purchased another Vantrue'. No thanks Vantrue.
Nice dash cam but, quality not so. After a month of use, picture from back and in cab, is turning pink, need to format the SD card almost every other day. The SD card is not from their brand, that's probably why.
sound does not work when played on the computer ? customer service hasn't helped with the issue? there isn't anything in the instructions on how to trouble shoot this either?
It is very easy to get power from the fuses using the power cable (sold separately). It is installed in parallel with the fuse used to run the product and the original fuse, so there is no need to worry about blowing the fuse.
Top of the line…everything I was looking for in a dash cam! The only gripe would be the length of rear camera wire. Although it fits fine in my smaller car…I can see it being a tad short for larger vehicles.
The first camera I purchased stopped working after 2 months. The seller replaced my camera and I have been using the new camera since late October 2021 and I have not had any issues since. The camera has great picture and video quality.
Update as of 10/18/2021: the manufacturer replaced the device and so far it appears to work fine.I bought this a couple of months ago. I just installed it this past weekend on Saturday and now on Monday the camera won’t turn on. I have contacted the manufacturer to see if they will uphold the warranty. I will update my post when I have heard back from the manufacturer.
I have had my version N4 for a year now and I have gone through 3 memory cards. Gets to hot when plugged in. Bought the connectors to hard wire but wont do that since it feels like it's going to catch on fire. Got in my truck at 0530 and felt really hot so unplugged it to reset thinking there was something wrong and waited to cool down. Tried again and got hot took it out since I'm out of the return window. Will not recommend.
I bought this because of the numerous features it advertised, including night vision, multiple camera views. I looked up the brand, and Vantrue seemed like a reputable brand - and for the price and features, it must be good right?Well, as soon as I received and opened the box, my asthmatic nostrils were greeted with an extremely strong and pungent odor. I KID YOU NOT - the smell reminded me of the elephant enclosure at the zoo, but MUCH MUCH WORSE. It was an extremely strong and distasteful smell. Now, I know that new items can have a smell to them, but this blows everything else out of the water. The smell came from both the packaging AND the item(camera, wires/cables) itself. The smell lingered on my hands after handling it as well. If this was installed in a car, it would most likely stink up the whole vehicle - I guess that's one way to deter break-ins.Cannot attest to the quality of the camera's features, but because of this extreme smell it was an instant return. Do not recommend.
So far I have failed to use this product. The SD card keeps popping out when you attempt to insert it but I eventually got it to stay in the slot. After I was able to insert it and start the formatted as instructions show, I have all the time had the error message that the format has failed and continues to as that I format the SD card. After a week I have given up and ordered that I gate a replacement after the SD card would not pop out.The SD card is dedicated and is not cheap as well. Very frustrating. My problem resolved when Amazon accepts a return and gave me a new one which worked right away as soon as I turned on. However I had to buy a brand new Vantrue SD card. After turning the Cam on and inserted the card in I was asked if I wish to format the card and that was it. So far everything seems to be working smoothly.
Installation was relatively easy, as working the wiring through a vehicle is always a pain. Set up was straight forward and easily understood as long as you take time to read the manual.Programming the camera was very simplistic, again, read the manual.I am only using the front and rear cameras at this time and picture quality is really good.I purchased the GPS option (as i would recommend for all, shame it's not a standard feature). it's default setting takes care of all the data you would want.I viewed the files on my computer via disk and the files were crisp and sharp, can even see license plates numbers as long as the vehicle is relatively close. A zoom function would be a nice feature. The only downside is that in PARK MODE it will overheat the unit and may cause it to malfunction in hot weather. The only way to use park mode for me was in COLLISION MODE at the low setting.Sorry, but electronics can't handle extreme heat regardless of who manufactures them. I live in Texas so heat will always be an issue. Maybe one day they will come up with electronics that can withstand extreme temperatures associated with vehicles at a practical price. Until then heat will always be an issue for any manufacturer. With that being said I did have issues with the unit over heating when i had all three cameras in park mode and high settings. Contacted customer support with my concerns and the next day I had a reply via e-mail. I was impressed with their customer support. Good customer support now days is rare, but so far i am impressed. Now the only issue is longevity, and only time will tell on that issue.Bottom line for me, glad i got it especially when i can count on customer support.
This version doesn't have a remote app.Camera loop records 24 x 7 when set to motion however this version does not have a report app to use with your smart device.
Fantastic picture quality, front, rear, and interior. I paid someone to install it, as I have a hatchback and it’s wasn’t easy for me (some arthritic issues) to “bury” the wiring. I also purchased the hard-wiring kit. I do not have a laptop, so was not able to download the video via the USB cable. I had to remove the micro-sd chip and download it to my desk-top computer. For someone with HDF (HotDog Fingers!) that was not an easy task. A wi- fi download option would make this a six-star product. But over-all, absolutely a wonderful dash-cam.
This camera is great - incredible 4k quality! But they ought to include the optional wiring kit with the camera. You will need that unless you are happy with the bulky 12v connector draped over your windshield and dash. I drive a full size SUV and was happy to see that the cable for the rear camera was long enough to easily wire up the camera for the rear. In Parking Mode, the camera will wake up to a bump and will turn on when it feels the movement of you getting in the vehicle most times - but occasionally, I have had to tap it to wake it up.
The dash cam itself is great the only bad thing is with the dash cam, it keeps recording and then restarts recording again and us they give u such a long CableAnd it becomes very annoying to install. It’s like a mile long for no good reason. It’s a huge headache, I Recommend just buying the dash cam without the back camera. I don’t see the reason for a mile long cable it’s stupid
This camera resolved all the issues with the batteries cooking themselves in the N2. It’s an excellent dash camMost importantly, the customer service with Vantrue and Echo is some of the best I’ve dealt with. They stand behind their products and are always willing to work with you.
I had it professionally wired, which cost $180!through a stereo shop but it was wired perfectly. Not easy and you better know how to remove panels of your car and snap them back in. I read that of all the dadhcams, this is the one to get. I’ve had about 5 different dadhcams which were cheaper in the past but you get what you pay for, so just she’ll out the rxtra bucks and get the best.
Parking mode is confusing, kept turning off when in collision only mode , but I just leave it in parking mode collision and movement and it records whenever there is movement and it works.
so far the camera part is great, except for the fact that after a week does not turn on automatically! I've reported the issue through the website and also on the FB group. no one is offering any help. I'll update this when appropriate.
This is very nice even the night time quality is amazing! I am now gonna purchase the GPS mount for it! I know lots of people complaining that it doesn’t have WiFi or what not. Jeez people the less complaining the more you’ll be happy. Just buy a sd card reader trio for your phone, and it will have three ends, one for your android, apple and pc! See that? Easy fix… now stop complaining.
Camera doesn’t have the full recording option, it just record in intervals of 3 minutes skipping some important moments while having an accident, I bought 2 thinking they were the best but it was just a waste of money
This drive cam is great, it saves the videos in different files so your forward cam doesn’t have the rear view on it. There is a different file for forward, inside, and rear. Picture quality is superb also
Excellent 3 in 1 camera kit. Recommend removing the camera unit each time you are leaving your car when parked in hot sun in summer time in Florida. Extreme interior heat will affect camera! Otherwise, great product and buy
After about a month and a half camera would not turn on. Just stop working. The Vantrue customer support team contacted me after reading my last review. They made several attempts in trying to resolve why my camera was not working. After being unsuccessful. They send me a new replacement. I am very satisfied with the professionalism of their customer support team. My new camera is working perfect.
Great camera. I bought the hard wire kit and did not need it, the power port plug was long enough to hide. Need mp4 program to watch video, Microsoft wants to sell you HEVC program, it doesn't work. Sent message to Vantrue on witch mp4 player they suggested and they didn't answer. The camera is everything they say it is, great pictures on all 3 cams ,no shake even on a dirt road.
I got it for her birthday and she’s really happy. I have a black up and iPad over 650 for it and I must say that this has better picture quality. The installers didn’t configure the settings but it was pretty easy to set up myself. One word of advice on first use, make sure to either set parking mode or turn it off otherwise the cam will record continuously.
Every manufacturer who has made anything has had a few lemons. It's the customer service that has to shine. As for this cam it works great for me. Quality is superb. My concern is the fact a individual can take their car and ram your car into a ditch, wall or another vehicle and as long as know one is killed, then all they get is a wreck less driving ticket. Something needs to be done about these intentional accidents
I bought this for my car and have it facing my bike which is parked in front. My bike was stolen and I thought at least the camera would have caught the footage. When I checked the SD card, the video was corrupted and the camera had stopped working on the day of the incident!I'd expect a dash cam to be reliable because it's an insurance. What's the point if it doesn't work when you need it most. None of the fancy features matter if it isn't reliable.
Too complicated to get around in the settings, not user friendly. Is not accessible through cell or web. Does not send video clips to cell or an app or website. Highly Disappointed.
I was intimidated by the entire setup procedure, since I had no idea what I was doing as a senior adult. I had been forced off the road by some young ignorant punk and decided I was going to get a dashcam. VanTrue is awesome! Setup is quick, to the point and easy to refer to. Even though the camera is panning through a parking lot, when you pause on the recording ALL of the license plates are crystal clear. I don't mess with the "factory defaults" -- I figure they know what they're doing! So far so good, no accidents as of this date - but EVERYONE straightens up when they see this dashcam on your windshield! They include a little tool that allows you to get the wiring under your vehicle's molding and trim. I have an extended cab pickup, and the cord they included for the rear camera is plenty long enough.
I have both the N2 and N4, great cameras with easy user interfaces. Customer service is very responsive if you have questions or issues. I would definitely recommend them!!
The company help with issues very quickly! I really like this camera. Can’t wait for a cloud based recording or app to come out so I can view from my phone or receive texts.
Great dash cam with very useful features. Set up and installed are a breeze/ Captures excellent video. Photo quality is crystal clear. Very happy with my purchase after three months of use so far.
Make sure to buy the fuse box adapter kit if you don't want to use the cigarette lighter or aux power outlet at the front of your car. I found the overall installation in my Acura MDX really easy. The provided cables give you more than enough length to get the rear facing camera back to where you want it.
I got one I spent 200 and something on. I made a review on the other but I left something out. So these things you need an SD card, you'll have to keep it plugged in and charging. This thing can charge all night long you take it off it says goodbye. I'm OTR I need a reliable camera that would catch any and everybody tampering with my truck or someone else's truck. It only records 5 to 10 minutes, and that really sucks. For what it's worth I want all the bells and whistles.
Between the overhyped leaders and the overhyped knockoffs, there is an undersold (in the sense of widespread praise) contender worth your hard-earned dollar--Vantue's N4 3-ch Capacitor/OBD-ready dash cam.First, a word about OBD-ready dash cams. It is utterly insane that dash cam manufacturers advertise Parking Mode--knowing full well it won't work out of the box; and then push consumers wanting to use Parking Mode to hardwire the dash cam into the vehicle fuse box. The fuse box can get you electrocuted and fry your vehicle's electronics. IT IS NOT A DIY PROJECT. AND IT IS PARTICULARLY INSANE WHEN they could just provide the plug-n-play experience consumer's expect by providing a cable to the OBD2 port. Vantrue walked a fine line: while they too lead with fine print telling you some features require hardwiring to the vehicle's fuse box, they did design their dash cam to work with the OBD2 port and sold separately the cable to for that. It is because I learned of the OBD2 port option from AutoFun (on YouTube), that I went looking for a OBD-ready dash cam. And IT WORKS.So in a nutshell, if you're going to have suffocating heat burn through your windshield, then you need a capacitor because a lithium ion battery might fail catastrophically. If you're going to use Parking Mode, then you're going to want an OBD2 port option. And if you're going to install a dash cam at all, then you need 3 channels: one to record who brake checked you; one to see who nudged up behind you; and the interior cam to prove you had your seatbelt on and who walked up on your vehicle to key it.Vantrue's N4 checks all those boxes. What it is missing is an app: to avoid clicking through it's annoying menus; and to receive alerts. But those are luxuries in contrast to the capacitor, OBD2 port option and 3-chs.
I live in Arizona and I don't know if the rear camera was built well enough to withstand our heat or it just failed because of a defect. I purchased the camera in July 2020 and the rear camera failed 10 months later. The front camera works well but the suction device is worthless. It drops after two or three weeks of use. Cleaning the windshield really well with alcohol did not prevent it from continually dropping against my dash.
I recently had rotator cuff surgery and installed this unit byself in a 2006 P. T. Crusier. Just follow the instructions. You will need to drill a hole in the firewall for the constant power supply, because the fuse box is in the engine compartment. It's tight quarters under the dash, especially with only one arm. My car is automatic trans, so I removed the clutch pedal blank plate, held on by 2x10mm Nuts. I then was able to drill a 1/4" hole through it. I ran the wire to the outside , passed it through the hole, the used 15" needle nose pliers to reinstall the blank plate, the bolts are attached the plate, so pretty basic, then reapplied the nuts under the dash. There's plenty of wire with the constant power kit, so no worries. The fuse box is right there and you will need to file an 1/8-1/4 where the lid clamps into place.
This worked fine until after I could return it to Amazon. Now, it has started turning off and on every 30 seconds or so. I am going to try online help and see if that gets me anywhere.
So, I have purchased four of these cameras over the past two years and I can't say enough good things about the quality of the cameras as well as their customer service. The cameras record excellent video and I especially like the time lapse option to minimize the battery drain. Customer service has always been professional, quick to respond and have provided me with optional parts (suction cup replacements) without cost. Highly recommended!
This dash cam is compact and incredibly well manufactured. The picture quality is great on all three angles and it is easy to switch the main view from one to another. Boxed contents include a wide array of connection options. I have not yet used it at night so I’ll have to edit this review when I do.
I love the camera and its versatility but, we sadly had the pull the sd card the veiw footage of a minor accident when we went to replace the sd card it wont read it and keeps ejecting it, ive had various dash cams including a rexing for over 3 years which still works fine but i wanted something less "dated" technology wise. So thats why i reduced a star otherwise it works well but now ill need to replace this camera ive barley had 2 mo.
It’s a great product. I wished this dash cam came with the hard wire kit or a integrated battery that lasted at least 12 hours because just as it is it won’t record unless driving or car is running. MAKE SURE TO TEST ITS RECORDING BY INSERTING THE MEMORY CARD TO A COMPUTER. My dash cam did not record but audio. Fixed it by formatting the memory card twice then it worked. Will be pointless to install it, get in a wreck the. Realize it’s not recording.
This camera comes in a fantastic package and looks impressive and is VERY easy to set up and honestly way faster to install than you would think. The only issue is that the rear camera doesn't work / freezes up. I'm inclined to think its some kind of firmware issue rather than a hardware issue because occasionally the camera will unfreeze for a few seconds but then it freezes again for 10+ minutes at a time.Honestly if Vantrue had a customer service number and they could guide me through a way to fix this I'd at least give 4 stars because I'm sure this product works for other people but since I have no way of getting any support for this issue I simply have to RMA the whole thing and just buy a different product.Good luck to you if you decide to buy this - hopefully your unit isn't broken on arrival like mine. Keep in mind there IS NO customer service phone number for this company.
Excellent camera by itself but comes with a rear window camera. Nice display, easy to setup and run. The front camera is actually two cameras in one with one facing forward the other towards the back. This alone gives you plenty of visible coverage for the car but you also get a dedicated rear window camera to make coverage of viewable area more than 360 degrees. All three views will be on screen at once (windowing) and each can be toggled as the primary view. The camera has various modes but parking mode requires power when the car is off. A separate wiring kit is available on Amazon to address this situation, using a fuse that has power at all times (both key on and off).An alternate solution for parking mode power is to get a high capacity battery (26000mah or better). Of course this is a last resort but if you only use motion sensor and parking mode, the external battery might be your answer.Of course if you’re using the camera for normal (power on) conditions, the supplied cables should work fine. A USB toUSB C and a cigarette lighter adapter are supplied. Of course, the camera has all the bells buttons and whistles to make recording your driving an enjoyable experience. Of course its best and most important function is to record an accident or the infamous “parking lot” type of event, such as malicious mischief or someone running into your parked car…ouch. Nice to have a recording of the event and with luck a license plate number or visual I. D. !!!
I started having trouble using this camera and after contacting support, they really paid attention and got me solutions for all my problems! I'm a very happy customer now! Thank you Vantrue!
We had a family member involved in an accident where the driver fled the scene and we wanted to feel more secure that if this were to happen to us we would have evidence. Thankfully, this still has not happened but we really feel better with this dash cam! Great resolution - very easy to install, and there have been no issues pulling video. I am so happy with this purchase!
I really, really wanted this dash cam to work. It had good reviews online, over 2,700 Amazon reviews when I bought it, with a 4.5 star rating. I also have several stalkers actively harassing me, and so far their minimally invasive measures have been enough to keep the police from arresting them. I've bought dash cams in the past, but they only showed the straight ahead vantage point, and I was lucky if I could get a single license tag number off of the footage, much less a face to prove anything. This dash cam seemed to be exactly what I've wanted for the past 20 years, but then the first one I ordered had issues, then the replacement had issues. The first unit's rear view camera didn't work, and neither did parking mode unless the camera was physically moved to wake it up. And yes, that's with motion detection on, which means it's supposed to record when it sees motion. I called Amazon support to see how to get the rear camera to work, but there wasn't anything else I could try -- it's just the one cable. And so Amazon ordered a replacement which came quickly. Meanwhile I'd asked a question of the Amazon community about how to get the rear camera to work, and someone said that the one cable sort of snaps into place. Well, I tried that and was actually able to get the rear camera to work, although the original unit's cables didn't snap together and you had to moosh them together pretty hard to get it working, which didn't seem right. The new unit did work with the rear camera, and the cable did snap in. There were little plastic notches in both cable ends to sort of guide you as to the orientation, and you had to be sure that they fit together to fit it in right. But then... after I set the resolution to the highest setting, the new unit stopped recording. I had footage of me putting the new dash cam in the window and changing its settings, but nothing after that when I got home. This was disappointing, as there was something happening along the road that night that the police would have appreciated seeing. And so I wondered whether it was because I hadn't connected the rear camera yet, or if the thing just doesn't record on the higher resolutions. And so I went about testing the camera after the rear camera was hooked up at different resolutions. I was able to get some footage, but the kicker is, the camera apparently lost my time setting, and so the 1st and 2nd round of tests are hard to figure out and I have to redo them. I can't say yet whether this 2nd dash cam is going back to Amazon or not. However, the parking mode does work better on the newer unit, though probably not well enough to prove it if a stalker is driving past my house 10 times a day. And I noticed something about the night vision in the new unit -- it seems to work via infrared, because you could see a part of my bra's outline in one of the interior videos I reviewed. I was wearing a dark blue shirt at the time with a printed image on it that made it impossible to see my bra under regular light. However with this dash cam's night vision, you could see the straps and upper part of the bra well enough to know it was there. That's if you turn on the cabin footage, which unfortunately I need to do because sometimes one of my stalkers breaks into the van and spends a lot of time there. Though he'd probably take the chip out and erase it, knowing his past history. (That's an issue mentioned by another reviewer -- the footage stays on a chip in the dash cam until you remove/replace it, it isn't uploaded to the cloud, though it generates so much footage that an upload wouldn't be practical. That means if someone smashes your windows to steal something, if they notice the dash cam and steal that, too, then you've lost your footage of the break-in.)I also ended up buying the VanTrue brand chips because it had a high capacity and is fast enough to handle video.Overall, I'd say that the quality of the electronics is iffy, but if you can get the features to work, it's great. I'm looking forward to hooking up my laptop to the big screen TV to see how many license tags I can read that way. I also saw a man who looked like one of my stalkers while the thing was running, and I want to find that footage to see if I can prove he was there. This thing just might help me get a restraining order and scare those guys off! If it can do that, it'll be worth all the money and trouble to get it to work, and then some.
The power cable attaches above the suction cup.The back camera cable attaches on the left side of the front/cabin camera.I initially had issues getting the back camera to work, but realized I had put the power supply in the wrong location as they have the same size and shape plug. Attaching the power cable on the side will power the front/cabin camera.
Bought this after a fairly brief look at online comparisons. Installed this system in a 2016 extra long MB Sprinter based RV. Suction mount reasonably secure. Rear camera mounts with UHB tape, and they include an extra piece if you want to move it. Setup was trivially easy. Video quality is good. Video is *not* 4k on the front camera unless you run it by itself; best you can do with all three cameras running is 1440p front and 1080p cabin and rear at 30 fps. That resolution is, however, more than adequate for anything I want to do with the camera. Files are stored time stamped, in mp4 format, with an 'A', 'B', or 'C' at the end of the file name to indicate which camera it came from. Event recorder is a little touchy with factory setting, which is OK. 'Event' files get stored in a separate directory from the continuous ones so they don't get overwritten as soon. You can force the current recording into the Event directory by touching the leftmost button on the top. All in all a fairly sane setup.Cons: No wireless access to the files, let alone live feed. I can sort of understand this as it would increase power consumption, but in an age when your refrigerator has wifi your dash cam should have some kind of wireless capability. I was unable to get the camera to connect to a Linux laptop via USB-C, but the laptop could read the card just fine in its own reader. The screen is pretty small if you want a usable backup camera. To get GPS tagging on your files you have to buy a separate GPS mount... but its cheap. I like the camera well enough that I ordered the GPS mount (which uses UHB tape instead of a suction cup). Rear camera view at night is just black without additional light (pretty hard problem to solve with the camera mounted behind tinted glass -- could put an IR LED on the back of the van I suppose but not sure if the back camera does IR). Side view on the front camera is blacked out at night (again, hard problem to solve when you have full headlight illumination in the center of the field of view, so acceptable).Pro: They actually seem to have a customer service department! I mounted the camera in a vehicle that is over 21 feet bumper to bumper. The 6 meter cable they include for the rear camera, which would be fine in almost any other vehicle, isn't long enough to do any kind of sane cable management in the van. The cable is USB-C on one end, but the end that plugs into the camera is a weird, I assume proprietary 1/16" or so 4 conductor phono plug. It wasn't clear whether a USB-C extender would work. I looked for a longer cable online and there was nothing (except, it turns out, on the Amazon Japan website). I contacted the company via email and received a prompt, intelligible reply; turns out they have a 9 meter cable available in China and Japan, and they are sending one.Unknowns: I haven't been in a position to evaluate whether files will finish saving before the power goes out in a wreck (see another review that mentions this). I am hopeful that the high bond tape mount will help with this if it ever becomes an issue. I am not sure how well the GPS position and speed tagging works, but hope to find out soon. Another reviewer mentioned a problem with the GPS format. All in all seems like a solid product so far, and one of very few solutions if you want a camera looking ahead at the road, another looking at the cop coming up behind you, and a third to show that you weren't texting, weren't speeding, and didn't do anything suspicious.
I bought 6 of these on Prime day for $175ea. They are normally $250. I did a ton of research on multiple brands and options and this got good reviews by some experts. If I paid full price for these I'd be angry. If I only had 1 car I would have went for a $450 Blackvue 900 or other higher end. Here's why. The Vantrue N4 is actually packaged and built well. It looks and feels high quality. The fact it has 3 cameras is a nice feature many do not offer. The video quality claims 4k but that's only front camera when the other 2 cameras are turned off. When you hear 4k you think movie quality crystal clear but this is not that. What you get here is what I would equate to a digital camera from 2010. Street signs and license plates are tough to read from most distances. All vehicles need to be still and close to clearly make out the # or else you may be struggling to see it. My main gripe is the lack of accessories for the price. You get the front/cabin camera combo and the rear camera along with a cig lighter plug and suction mount. There is no micro SD card (required) add $50. The other slap in the face is they make a GPS enabled suction mount add $20 (does not display speed or coordinates without this) and a hardwire power kit add $20. All that stuff could have been included and that would honestly make up for the mid grade camera, no wifi or Bluetooth, no touchscreen, and no app or smartphone compatibility.
Pros:-Excellent video/ snapshot quality on all 3 cameras, suction cup does well in the heat (up to 120 degrees so far), audio is great, night vision is pretty good, has all the data (time stamp, GPS and speed, w/ separately sold GPS module of course) and install was simple (I used adhesive cable clips to hide/ hold up my cables to the windows).-Takes up to 256gb micro SD card.Cons:-No Bluetooth to download videos to phone. Work around for iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 14.7 (at least), I bought the “SUNTRSKI” SD Card reader (multiuse/ multi adapter) for $15 on Amazon to insert my memory card into and download my videos instantaneously to my phone or device. (HIGHLY recommend to buy and keep in the car.)-Doesn’t come with the Vantrue GPS receiver module adapter (I feel like it should come by default but bought it separately for $22 on Amazon). I swapped it out with stock adapter/ suction cup it came with.Overall, it’s worth the investment on this device for your vehicle. Nicely spent $300 for my setup mentioned. (The video uploaded is in way better quality then what Amazon allows, FYI.)
I drive for Lyft and this camera is awesome. The quality seems like a Go Pro camera. Worth every Penny. The only thing I don’t like is the camera doesn’t have wi-fi and App but I bought one adapter to plug the micro sd and connect at my iPhone, so it’s very easy to access.
I have to change my review because it stop recording or not start recording, I have to keep on eyes when not recording I have to unplug it so if not recording by itself after program should work but it is not don't waste your moneyThanks
Bought two of these for both of our 2020 vehicles and worked perfect for the first few months and then whenever we went to retrieve video, found out it didn't record. Constantly had issues connected to the device via the phone app. Discovered these were not staying powered on for whatever reason which was why the videos weren't recording and why we couldn't connect to retrieve the saved videos. Tried different SD Cards, Firmware upgrades, resets and nothing fixed the issue. Contacted support and they are sending replacements but I have little confidence they will work since both units failed the same way.
Works great, after a factory update a few issues I was having got corrected. I would suggest making sure the rear cam wire is secured. It almost clicks in. If not you’ll end up having issue. Once it’s in everything is great.
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
