Put a sim card in it thought saller would provide sim card an i had to buy a card to activate the camra an it took the card but can not remove the card an carmra dont work i so piss off with cheap stuff that coast over 200 bucks
Bought this dash cam as a gift for my truck driver husband. I reviewed the footage of this dash cam and they are great. Video quality is good, night vision is superb. Audio quality is clear. It looks sturdy and durable.
My old camera had a bit of a grainy picture to it. It could still be used but this camera is a big upgrade in terms of video quality. When I plugged it into my computer to view some videos I knew I made the right choice to go with this camera.Setup is easy and quick. I just plugged the mini usb cord into it that I was using with my old camera and bingo. I like my old usb plug because it has a lower footprint than the one that came with the camera and it also has another usb slot for a phone or something else.So far no complaints, it is doing everything I want it to do.
very bad camera the parking mode does not work and the sensor is the same, I bought the kit that is directly feeding power to the camera and it was useless, on two occasions they robbed my car the second time they broke the rear window but the alarm but the camera despite everything he did not record anything
I bought this camera specifically because it had a dual camera. The biggest reasons why this isn't a great camera is because of the choice of mounting hole they used. I didn't use the mount it came with because I can't stand anything to do with suction cups -- they never stay on like they're supposed to. I have a universal mount that connects to my rear view mirror, and it DOES have the piece to go along with the camera, but considering it's a slide mount (I don't know what you really call it), it has a tendency to slip out. My wife's Rexing uses the ball mount -- with that, worst case scenario, you've gotta readjust your camera from time to time, but at least the camera is secure to not fall while you're driving. The first time my camera fell absolutely freaked me out, and then I was worried that I broke it. If I get into a collision, it probably will fall off again and prevent potentially crucial information unless I glue it to the mount. However, if I do that, I won't be able to easily take the camera out of the car -- I'll have to take out the mount which was frustrating to install in the first place. It would've been all right if there was a way to lock the mount with the camera to prevent it from falling off during normal driving, but based on what I've tried, there wasn't.The second biggest issue I have is that it'll restart itself at random times. This might be a result from it falling on three occasions, but it bothers me because obviously when the camera is restarting, it doesn't record. Though the chances may be unlikely, those seconds could be the difference between being a "not at fault" accident to an "at fault accident."Because it's a 200 dollar camera and I'm afraid it's not always going to do the job it's supposed to do, I'm disappointed. I should've stuck with the 99 dollar Rexing I had -- it wasn't a dual camera, but at least it always worked, and it was always secure. This is really unfortunate because it's a great camera, but I had to give it 3 stars because of (in my opinion) their poor choice of a mounting piece, and the technical difficulties. And yes, I use the correct memory card for it, as well.
I am very satisfied with this dash cam. It was falling off the windshield specially when hot outside but the seller provided excellent customer service and sent me a brand new mount that clamps on to the rear view mirror and it is very sturdy.
Great dashboard camera that does all automatically for youI feel much better to have and recording all of the drives etc.Good value for the money and double camera in one product
Don’t usually do reviews but saved me... not in a way that you would think but still ha... was tried at a 3 way stop. I approach the stop sign then proceed to turn left and the car to the right ran through the stop sign. Wife argued that it wasn’t my turn to go and I was like what!!?! So of course... went back to my camera that I just installed and guess who was right? Of course being the good husband I am... didn’t bring it back up :)
It didn't worth it to pay 200 dollars and the product does not allow you to use GPS without buying and installing another product. It is not covered 360 degree.
If you have ever considered a dashcam you should take a good look at the Vantrue N2 Pro. Easy to install, easy to hardwire. The setup instructions are simple and accurate. I may purchase another hardwire kit for my other vehicle. I can then easily use the Vantrue N2 Pro in whatever vehicle I'm using.
Awesome camera! Easy install and hangs on tight to the windshield. Most important part for me is that it is very easy to get the data off and on to you computer or phone. I recently got the gps mount so that my speed will also show up when date is pulled off. I drive for Lyft so both the inside and outside cameras are important.
Not only has the camera been useful to myself but it captured in perfect quality a hit an run. The camera was able to capture both car and license plate as it attempted to run another driver over. Makes me feel more safe in my own vehicle.
Summary:1) This is a great dual (front/rear) camera for the low level light (night vision) and for the HD picture quality and sound recording capability.2) GREAT customer support3) Sound recording can only be enabled by going into the menus. It would be nice to have sound record feature selectable by a button on the outside instead of having to go into the menu4) Memory card is not included and needs to be formatted prior to use.5) You’ll need to download program to format the SD card. I’m not sure if the one that Vantrue sells with camera is already formatted.6) You’ll have to purchase separate kit for powering from ignition switch if you want camera to turn on automatically and not have to use the included power adapter7) Optional rearview mirror mount option would be good.Great unit for recording traffic and potential scenarios for accident investigation.Purchased unit in May 2018. Several weeks later the suction cup adjustable mount that came with the camera because loose and was difficult to adjust. Contacted customer support and they promptly sent a re-designed mount that works great.About a year later it started having problems with the built-in battery backup which keeps the date/time settings. This is evident by the calendar reverting back to the default date (year 2017); however, the camera will not warn you so until you either visually verify or download a video clip you will not notice the issue. (This might be due to the Florida heat in the vehicle which shortens the life of any battery). Also it is difficult to check the screen if you mount it on the passenger side of the windshield and if you have trouble reading small characters on a screen.Customer support advised to recharge the camera several hours and using. This helped temporarily but eventually the backup battery would not accept a charge. Original unit was returned. Customer support honored the warranty and sent a new replacement camera. I suggest keeping the box and accessories in case the need arises to return the unit to get a warranty replacement.
BEWARE!!! Buy at your own risk. If you get a bad copy it will drain your battery completely in parking mode and you will have to buy a new battery replacement, factor that cost ($150-200) into risking and buying this cheaper product. I've asked for a replacement unit, will update review if it's any better.
So far, so good. With the occasional resetting of the suction cup that comes off because of the hot temperatures, it work just fine. I noticed rowdy riders behave better once they notice the camera so that's a bonus.
VERY Happy with this purchase. I wish it had WiFI but for this price and the picture quality it is well worth it and I love the fact that it has interior cameras for Citizen protection!
This is a solid camera. The video is very steady and stable. The suction cup mount holds the camera in place very well. The daytime picture quality is great. The audio is good for what it is. Naturally the front seat audio is louder than the back seat audio. The separate power cables are a must to permanently mount this unit. The downloadable video software is a great tool that allows you to watch the video, watch your position on a map, and monitor your speed and direction. The memory chip is small and I have big hands. Leaving it on in park mode in the summer will heat up this unit to the point of barely being able to touch it. The night vision of the internal camera has a halo around the IR transmitters. A separate IR transmitter in the rear of the vehicle may be required to get a better picture. Passengers are visible and facial details can be seen but some times you have to strain to watch it.I would use a 256 memory chip. At present I have two 128s. I swap them out in the middle of a busy day of driving so as not to overwrite the video. I was able to get the 128 to record for 12 hours at the highest quality setting.
Really enjoying my Vantrue OnDash N2 PRO Dash Cam! Easy to unpack, and after some practice, easily configured it to fit my needs. I am a rideshare driver and the N2 PRO very useful. I hope I never need to use any of the footage in a legal situation, but I feel secure with the N2 PRO if something arises.
The recorded picture quality is outstanding, both for the external and the internal views, when viewing on a computer. The display on the camera itself is quite small. At just 1.25 inches, the camera display is large enough to navigate the menu system. Recorded video really needs to be viewed on a computer. Navigating the camera menu system takes a minute to get used to, then it makes sense. All of the features can be easily scrolled through and are logically organized. The camera controls are simple - taking a photograph is just a simple push of a button. Images, both still and video are nicely organized into three folders on the memory card. The Event folder contains files captured as the result of triggering the camera G-sensor. Still pictures are saved in a different folder, and all of the video clips that are taken while driving normally are stored in a third folder. Video files are saved in the MP4 format and are saved at approximately 220MB. When the card gets full, oldest files are automatically overwritten first. The camera mounting device is solid and easily installed. I like that there is also a power connection on the mount - it helps to keep the power cable up and out of view a little more. The power cable is sufficiently long to route out of view. It also has a very handy USB connector on it which can be used to recharge a phone or other USB powered device. Overall I am very pleased with the camera and would recommend it to anyone!
I love this product - it is a great dash cam.I really want Vantrue to come out with a better / more advanced dash cam. I would pay $250 for an even better version.
This camera from back days. All modern cameras have apps to manage and this one still needs chip and computer, this is unbelievable. You should know we are in 21th century.
Almost perfect, amazing video quality and interface. But will be useless in about a year. I bought 3 of those already... the internal batery do not hold charge, and after 6 months of daily use, you cannot turn it on to access the menu, unless it is connect to a externalpower suply. After 1 year, the camera will turn off even if connected to your 12v socket. Time to replace it then... i did it 3 times, and will only do it again if vantrue give one for free... (not happening, i know) sad story... but is still one of the best on the market for this price so far.
When I started doing ride share... that’s the time I decided to buy a dash cam for my safety and safety of my passengers... Shopping for dash cam is not simple specially it’s not cheap... need to read reviews specially the negative ones... and this dash cam catches my eyes at first I just want the 1st version the Vantrue N2 but it lacks the infrared you need when you are driving at night... so I go to Vantrue N2 Pro w/ dual camera 1 is facing front and the other is infrared camera facing inside your car... the quality of the video is great after 2 year of using it... it is still rocking... I upgraded the power cable by buying the Vantrue Hardwire Kit (not the generic ones) and it’s easy to install (so that I can use the parking features of the camera)... there is a lot of video tutorials in YouTube if you need a help of installing it by your self... you will not be disappointed in buying this camera... happy driving
I love that it has rear and front facing cameras with HD quality video and pictures and night vision. My nephew and brother-in-law got one too. Don't go to Car Toys. They were way over priced and wanted $200 just to install. I had it installed at BestBuy for just $60!
At my work and home I’ve installed over 100 surveillance cameras. And I’ve always kept one my car but it was a $69 special that worked OK for a while. But was very complicated to program or work with. Vanture Is this one that I’ve ever seen with this level of quality. Good instructions easy to understand straightforward to work with. This is huge when using a product like this. I’ve already highly suggested this unit to several other people. So far I’m extremely satisfied with the unit. Keep up the good work!
This dash cam works great! Front and rear video is excellent.Vantrue customer support is fantastic! I contacted them about acquiring a longer usb cable to power my cam. After a few emails back and forth with suggestions, they stepped up and offered to have one made for me at their factory and send it to me at no cost! Now that is customer support! After about two weeks, I received the cable in the mail and it works perfectly for my situation.A big Thank You to Vantrue and their top notch customer support!
Ordered the camera, hardwire kit, and memory card - the complete kit. Packaging was very nice and the instructions are very straight forward.Installing this in my 4Runner was a breeze. There were plenty of videos online to help explain the best approach (for any vehicle, not just the 4Runner).The quality on the camera is on another level. It’s crisp, clear, and very impressive! Will definitely be buying another one for our other car.10/26/2020 - loved this camera so much we bought another one! Checkout the cool video footage for the quality of this amazing camera!
Great video, but the there are a few items that could be improved on.I'm not sure why they went with the mini USB cable, I haven't used a cable like that in the last 6 to 8+ years. I don't pull video from the camera very often, but on 3 occasions I found the camera stopped recording. The screen was showing it was still recording, only to find out the hard way it stopped recording a while ago. There's nothing more frustrating when you find out an event you bought the camera for ended up not getting recorded. The window mount could use improvement! I was really hoping to mount the camera high enough so it could see above the mirror. The camera is designed to mount with the suction cup above the camera and have the camera a couple inches below the window mount. The way the power cable connects to the mount or GPS mount, it needs an inch or so of clearance so you can get the suction cup to "suck"! I'm not sure why they put the power plug where they did, I could think of much better locations so you didn't need additional clearance to activate the suction cup mount. The camera does have a beautiful video, I just got to the point where I can't trust it's recording when I need it to record. I'm going to get a new SD card and see if it solves the issues I ran into.I purchased a new 256G memory card to see if that fixes some of the problems I've been experiencing. I dont think the memory card is the issue, it looks like the the camera isn't automatically turning on when I turn on truck. I've been having to hit the OK button on the camera to make sure the camera is turned on. Not sure why this is happening, the cigarette outlet in my truck is on all the time. If I hit the OK button and nothing shows up on the screen, I've been having to reset power to the camera so it turns on. I haven't verified if that fixes my issues with it not recording, but it should.
I am very glad I have purchased the Vantrue Dual Dash Cam. I drive with a better sense of security, these days one has to drove constantly in a defensive mode. Have video will create a great witness in case needed in court.Thank you
So I purchased this camera a week ago to add to an additional vehicle. I already own an X1 by Vantrue that's served me very well over the past few years, so I figured why not stay within the brand. So far in I'm very impressed with all of the features and overall build quality of this camera. If you've ever owned a generic or cheap dash cam you've realized that the OS/User interface leaves a ton to be desired; quite frankly most are utter crap. The UI on this thing is actually pretty intuitive and simple, allowing you to customize the thing exactly as you need without a headache. You get the choice of recording quality (1080P at 60FPS which I prefer, or 4K at 30FPS as seen in the video I posted). You can disable the rear camera if you want to expand the storage space (1 hour of 4K single camera took up about 11GB's). There's also the option to disable audio recording if you live in a dual-party-consent state like I do.The video recording is incredibly clear. I posted a video of night driving which is ALWAYS more frustrating to deal with. A lot of cameras struggle with IR or light reflection during the evening/night, but the N2 did really well in balancing itself so that you can read most license plates from the recording. The rear camera's good for recording passenger's if you work for a rideshare company but I opted to have it to have recordings from a rear vantage point available, just in case someone rear ends me.The camera itself feels sturdy, which should be expected given the price point. It's large which makes it rather visible, but again that's a personal preference of mine so people are less inclined to break in/damage my car. The visibility makes it an effective deterrent. And for the extra options you can buy?I'd very much so recommend the hard-wiring kit they sell for $16 or so. It's incredibly easy to install and will give you the added protection of being able to record any impacts while the vehicle is stationary and off so long as you enable the 'Parking Mode' feature. There is an additional GPS unit you can buy, but I'm not much of a fan of those. I think of them as unnecessary liability within the video, as they'll stamp your speed onto the video which can potentially hurt a claim. All in all this is a nice improvement over my X1, and a must for those who rideshare/want a rear camera as well.
The video quality is poor. It gives a different time even though I tried to fix it. It turns off every five minutes. Scared with it. I have to buy a different one.
This camera is exactly what I was looking for after six months of using it. Their customer service is stellar, picture quality is excellent and the night vision also works very well. This purchase was made based on research and exceeded my expectations for a semi-high tier dash camera.
Unreliable and no reply from customer service. When it works, it has great video... when it works. Sometimes it stops recording 30 seconds after it turns on if it turns on at all. The parking mode keeps coming on and recording leaves moving all night, erasing everything on the memory card. Emailed customer service three times, no response other them telling me there is no way to change the sensitivity of the motion sensor. No reply on any of the other issues.
Got this after two crazies on the road tried fighting me for seemingly no reason. It's awesome. I get a wide enough angle to make sure any weirdo and their foolishness is on camera. It's easy to turn the microphone on and off while still recording so people in the car with me can comfortably talk smack about other people, or about whatever they want with me, without worrying it'll be on camera, but a press of a button will turn the mic on quickly if some crazy person on the road starts threatening and such.Picture quality is great both in cabin and on the road. I got this for a great price as well. Worth it for your own safety. I purchased this with pepper spray too. Let the police handle the crazies on the road. They get a pension for it.
I bought this thing primarily for Uber and Lyft. But, now I have it on pretty much every car I drive. It's a great way to prove your point if anything happens (accident or road issues). It also keeps me from grabbing my phone during driving, because I know this thing is on, I keep away from grabbing my phone to change Pandora stations or whatever. It keeps both front camera and rear camera files separated, and has a very decent built in microphone. Also, the image quality is way better than lots of other dash-cams you get, so if anything would happen and you need details (license plate number for instance), you're probably better off paying the money for this camera vs the cheap dash-cams, because when it truly matters, you get what you pay for.
Great dash camera!Cons: dual video means duel video! When you get the video off the micro card ( not included) there will be 2 folders one for the front video! One for the inside cab video!Pro: Both great quality. 32g space card will hole 2.0 to 2.5 hours at dual 1080p non-stop.If you need to record non-stop get the biggest card avalible for this camera. Formating on the camera works Great!Loop 5 min max otherwise turn it off fill up the card. I fill mine up but i have 32g and its good for 2.0-2.5 hours. Keep that in mind. 1080p dual with audio helps.
I just received my new VanTrue N2 Pro dual dashcam and I like it so far. This has an adjustable internal camera in addition to the external camera. Both are high definition and very good quality. The last dashcam I bought was cheap to save some money, but it only lasted a few weeks. I cannot speak for the durability of this camera yet, but it is clearly much better quality. What I like:· The mount is really positive, it twists to create suction.· Video is very high quality and you can take snapshots· It is highly configurable. You can disable the internal cam, and sound if you like. You can disable display settings and change date format, etc.· There is a parking mode to keep an eye on things while you are away. · It is a compact design and does not obstruct the view. · Internal cam is adjustable, and easily picks up the driver, even when mounted on the passenger side.· Optional GPS would be handy if using this for fleet vehicles or teen drivers, because it shows the speed on the video.Negatives· It could use a slightly larger LCD display, but that is a trade-off for the compact design. It is sufficient for aiming the camera and some basic playback, but certainly not for much detail.· The rear facing camera is great for a picture of the inside of the car, but will not pick up much detail of vehicles behind you, like license plates. This seems like it would be ideal for Uber/Lyft drivers, but is also great for normal drivers who just want to capture the crazy drivers out there.
Have been using N2 for over 2 years no problem. Liked 2 camera front with cabin plus rear sides view so much purchased the N2pro for front & install N2 inside rear window awesome photography easy editing.Plus Vantrue tech support Echo beat all my expectations in service. My special thank you to Echo & the team for your service.Alfred New Jersey
when you set the camera to record 5 minutes with you at the beginning it starts working fine but then starts recording videos of 10 seconds 20 seconds never completes the 5 minutes perfectly as you wish. (I have to used 3 mins record)Update: the problem was the sd card, I contact them and they solve my problem!! Thank you!!

The camera is of good quality, however The camera keeps resetting date and time to last year! It’s so frustrating because I don’t know when the videos were recorded when I need proof of something. I wish this camera was able to back up online somehow, that way videos would not be erased when needing to look up old videos. The videos are the main reason why I got this camera and y I got the 256gb memory card. This camera is so expensive yet overtime it is continuing to fail me. First the car jack cord (which they replaced) and now this.
Update 12/16/2019 After a few test drives with the N2 Pro with GPS Mount a problem developed. When starting out the GPS Dish icon would appear as clear and then turn orange when locked with the GPS Satellites. When driving down the road at intermittent times the GPS Dish icon would go from Orange to Clear and then sometimes disappear. When this happened all GPS info would disappear from the recorded video. The primary reason I purchased this model was for the GPS Info. The recorded video is great but I needed the Latitude, Longitude and Vehicle Speed. I view the recorded video with a program called DashCam Viewer and Registrator Viewer. After working with the Vantrue Customer Service Team (Especially Helen) the problem was corrected. At first, it was thought it was a faulty GPS Mount. The sent me a new one and the problem did not go away. In the end it turned out to be a bad N2 power supply cord. When the icon disappeared this was the indication that power was lost from the GPS Mount. I was sent a new Power Supply cord and the problem disappeared. I want to commend the Vanture Customer Service Team as they were persistent in discovering the problem and keeping a satisified customer.End of Update ... So in the end the below comments are still relevant.1. Very highly recommended. I would purchase again.2. Setting up is extremely easy. Matter of fact just pop in Micro SD card and set date/time.3. Video quality is great. Tiny LCD is very useful. Cabin camera and Audio recording works well4. The size is really compact, easy to mount on windshield.5. Quick Start guide very informative.6. Get the GPS mount if you need GPS info.7. Dual cameras give you road and cabin video.
Colors are perfect even at night, after the firmware update to v35 all colors went bright, I even recommend this to a friend, I always post videos of my rides in facebook just to let them see how clear the videos are. I highly recommend this product.
Perfect for night driving, the GPS add on is awesome and I love being able to see the license plate with the video. Cabin video is crisp but only intended for cabin, it does not double as a rear view cam.Do note that the sidemount usb not intended for every day use. Make sure you're going through the top mounted power mount, mine came loose so I had to get a replacement, lesson learned.
During the day, the pictures are great. During the night, out the front camera, if there is no light you wont see anything. In the car it has ok night vision. It is easy to hook up and use. Great packaging.
I purchased this product almost purely on all of the positive customer reviews that it has gotten. I am a firm believer in hearing what other customers have to say about a product before I purchase it. I have owned at least 3 or 4 other types of dash cameras previously and found that most were confusing to program or did not live up to my expectations. I am just a retired senior citizen that likes gadgets like this. I am not very "tech minded" so it has to be user friendly to use. I like how small and compact it is. I love the excellent picture quality. The directions are in English and are easy to understand. For what this dash camera cost, it was a good investment. We go on frequent road trips for short vacations and it is reassuring to have a dash cam like this to record what is going on. You never know when "something" may happen. I also like the way that the company periodically checks up on their customers who have bought their products and asks if they are having any problems. I am satisfied.
Simple to use. The interior shots are perfect even in night vision. The N2 Pro is perfect for ridesharing like I do, or if you want a great dashcam that won't crap out like competitors cheap junk!
When it comes to a dashcam there is nothing that currently compares to this one. No, it doesn't have Wifi or some of the connected cloud features that other dashcams have, but what this camera does so well is record both interior and exterior at the same time in exceptional quality. If you are a rideshare driver please don't click on something else as this is significantly cheaper then other solutions, and looks just as good or better.
Vantrue N2 pro Dual dash camera It’s really amazing I have try. Others but. None. Was. As good as. This one. I drive a t night a lot and the quality on the night vision is amazing !! Inside my car. Is too dark. Cause. I have the maximum tint level. Still the camera works great. And during the. Day. This. Vantrue N2 pro camera is. Just amazing !! I. Convinced this. Is the. Best. Camera. Available out there. The. Price. Is. Very razonable and. You get it. Delivery from amazon prime. Next day ! ( if you order within the delivery time ) anyways. I post a video of the camera check it out and. That an other detailed videos r going to be on u tube As well. So you can see the night vision camera. On action thanks Vantrue. I love my Vantrue N2 pro dual dash camera !!100 % recommended !!
The manual states that you must format the memory card every couple of weeks. Like everyone, I’m busy, so I forgot to keep formatting it. Guess what? It stopped recording even though it indicates recording. I switched to a different brand camera that doesn’t require continual formatting. Nice camera but not for me.
This camera is super easy to set up and work with. Picture quality is very good. I've had it in my car all summer in south florida and have had zero problems with it.
Compare with my last one, this is Really good dash cam, has high digital clear resolution, high clear voice record. And when it’s nighttime, this cam has totally record the other car’s plate , this is very important when there’s happened accidents. At the same time, I had a suggestion, if there’s 360 degrees cam will be better. Or there’s 3 cam in the same dash cam can also solve this problem.
I was searching reading about several dashcam out there in the market for my Rideshare business. After extensive research, I concluded to buy this well made dashcam with zero flaws. Price is quite affordable for anyone who want a dashcam for the best price. This dashcam up to the mark and work exactly as described. Installation is easy,However I opted to get help to quick hard installed. Using with car power adapter is quick to start using it. Guys no look further. Go for it! My compliment to manufacturer of this productive dash cam for anyone and Rideshare partners. Keep it up Good work Vantue N2 Pro.
I just took camera out of box. I was amazed to see this uses the OLD STYLE mini usb 2.0 connector. Fortunately I have old mini usb 2.0 cables. I have a dual usb outlet adapter in power outlet, need a cable with usb connectors on both ends.
IT has worked well. I am using it for training for my sales agents as I am on the road. Telling them that I am doing it is not the same as showing them that I am doing what I am telling them to do.
Great camera!Great night visionGreat picture quality both in and outEasy to install yourself (took me about 25mins)GPS/speed is dead onGreat 24/7 clip recording for additional security
I love that there's little and not a massive lag in connection with the camera after clicking the button. I don't like the guidelines for the product and I wish the Vantrue team creates an update to include options for Sedan sized vehicles as soon as possible because the lines are way off for the time being and other customers have expressed their concern on it as well.
Used for half a year or so and was great, got rear ended and this helped out. Fast forward to about a year later, and after getting in another accident where fault was very hard to determine this failed to record anything. Would give zero stars if I could - when I needed it, it does not work. What is the point?Edit: now it says all memory cards are “corrupt” and unusable. This is a useless brick- avoid!
So I’ve been using this camera for Some time now I feel a lot more confident having it in my car and it also will keep you honest and stop signs and red lights and things of that nature my only complaint is the night vision is horrible so if you put the video on your computer looking out the front camera say at other cars the sky and anything that is black sparkles like it has a bunch of white noise in the picture not sure if there’s an update or something to fix this but I mostly drive in the daytime so it does not bother me that bad I do like all the functions that are on the camera and I do like that it has a screen on it so if something was to happen even though the screen is small you were still able to view it or turn it over for evidence I bought the GPS mount with it also and when you have to remove the camera most of the time you pull the mount down with it I wish it had a different attachment system that would make it easier but so far it has been great and has not give me any issues during the summer as an overheating or being too hot I have came out a few times and the camera was laying in the middle of my console Due to the fact that the suction cup released and fell down The inside camera looks great during the daytime and has enough night vision to see at night so if you were an Uber driver this would be an awesome camera to have because it does light up the backseat to and you can adjust the brightness of it it is not color like the front camera is but it’s still a good option to have say if you get pulled over for not having on a seatbelt you have video evidence that you had it on or not on depending on your preference The inside camera looks great during the daytime and has enough night vision to see at night so if you were an Uber driver this would be an awesome camera to have because it does light up the backseat to and you can adjust the brightness of it it is not color like the front camera is but it’s still a good option to have say if you get pulled over for not having on a seatbelt you have video evidence that you had it on or not on depending on your preferenceYou can also turn off the inside camera instead of running two cameras at 10:80 you can run the front camera at a higher resolution
This is a very high quality dash cam. It's construction is solid, it's easy to set up and it's easy to review recorded videos/images. As the pictures show, the camera is minimally obtrusive even if mounted below the rear view mirror. I was able to fully conceal the power cord by placing it under the plastic mouldings without using any tools. Complete install took less than 15 minutes. I also purchased the Samsung 256GB 100MB/s (U3) microsdx EVO Select memory card which works really well with this dash cam. Video is plug and play using the sd slot on my chromebook. Images are crystal clear, including the ability to read license plates on vehicles within a few car lengths (see pic of video freeze frame view on chromebook). Camera captures very wide viewing area. I chose to use front facing camera only setting because I prefer the higher resolution available in that setting and I usually don't need to record interior video. Microphone is one-button on/off. I'll normally keep it off but it's a nice feature to have available if desired (e.g. encounters with law enforcement for traffic stop). Audio playback was also very good.I highly recommend this dash cam.
Having 2 cameras in one helps a lot when you are trying to find the person that keyed your vehicle. I am waiting on them to do it again because I now have this camera in my truck. I have viewed some of the footage from the camera and I like the fact that it is 1080. the night vision is great for the price that I paid for the camera. I am not fond of the software that is used to view the footage but it gets the job done.
We aren't Uber driving but figured if we were putting in a dash cam, we wanted it all... front & rear facing cameras, audio recording, GPS, etc and TheWirecutter steered us towards this Vantrue model. It supports up to 256gb micro SD which we are using as they're so inexpensive these days. The video gives a beautiful picture with 1080p or higher depending on how you set it up. Street signs, license plates, etc are pretty clear to read even at the standard 1080p... better if you disable the cabin video having the camera focus (pun intended) on the front camera only.Night vision is what sold us on the camera as others we've tried have been abysmal. Generally, the outside video remains color as there's adequate light and the interior switches to B&W due to absence of light. In both cases the video is very clear and nearly as legible as daylight recording. We setup in the car using a standard patch cable but supplemented with a power bank battery so the 24 hour motion sensor security is in place. (This allows us to use the security feature without risking the car battery draining if the vehicle sits for an extended period of time.) Since we have the max 256gb card, the cumulative video holds for a long amount of time before overwriting occurs. The add-on GPS mount, only about $21, allows the unit to collect additional data such as location and MPH speed. These are recorded on the dashboard section of the video where other information such as date/time is provided. One thing we'd like to see improved is the mount as the camera gets out of line when bumped. Normally this isn't a problem but sometimes the window sunshade hits in a manner that requires realignment. Fortunately, this is pretty easy as the cabin facing display on the camera shows a good perspective on what's being collected by the camera.
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
