It seems to do everything that it says it does. So all in all I've been pretty pleased with this product. So far so good. Takes great video inside the car in complete darkness, and takes excellent daytime video outside the car and good at night. If you drive for a living, even if its on the side, you should buy this. Especially if you carry passengers. Nothing beats video evidence to call someone out on their bulls**t. Definitely get the hardwire kit and run it to your battery as well so you can use the parking mode. Lastly, don't forget a good micro sd card. I have a 64 gb(only gets about 6 hours of 1080p inside and out recording) but will be getting a 128gb as a friend let me know it works just fine.
Best dash cam I’ve had. Make is solid. Video quality is perfect! High end build and easy set up. Got this for Uber driving and use it for all driving . Very pleased
I got this dash cam after few days of research, so I decided to spend a little extra $$ but to get a good product that will make me happy. The dash cam is built very well, its small and looks very sturdy. Picture quality is fabulous for both cameras front and back. Sound is also very good. I've used it for a week now and it already filled up half of my 128GB memory card so you might want to consider a larger memory card. For parking mode it requires constant power, I'm driving an SUV and i have cigarette adapters supporting constant power so that was not a problem. Otherwise you'll need an extra adapter. It splits the video files at about 266MB so they are smaller and easy to view and handle.Installation is easy the power cable is just long enough to reach the dash board cigarette adapter and to be hidden properly. I have an adapter on the back of my car so I ordered an extension in order to reach that one.Its a great dash cam and so far I'm very happy with it.
I love my new Dash cam easy installation very clear picture in both highest resolution modes and the night vision recording rocks very good tool for professional drivers to record everything going inside the car great product would recommend get the one with the GPS mount
it wasn't recording for 2 months! I had no idea, it'd be nice if it told you somehow! a blinking red light maybe? I start up the car, the blue light blinks, it chimed, nothing notifying me that there was errors, I set it and forget it, I assumed it was working normal. something happens and I go to pull it off the sd card and I come to find out it hasn't been recording for 2 months! never once did it alert me that something was seriously wrong and it wasn't recording. you could argue with me that the screen said something was wrong, but it doesn't. the exterior light blinks dim blue, the screen shuts off after 15 seconds. I don't have the time or the patience to doublecheck to see if an automatically turning on/off camera is recording or not. such a bullcrap problem to be having with a dash cam, its meant to be set it and forget it. I cannot recommend this product.
I replaced the camera I had with this unit. My old camera gave out in the high heat we get here in Arizona. So far I am very pleased with the performance of this product and I love that when you add the gps option to the camera it allows you to follow your trip on a map when viewing the video on your computer. Will have to wait to see how it does next summer in the dersert heat. Will post an update at the end of next summer.
Used this for about a year and when I finally needed it due to an accident there was huge gaps in recorded material. Of course it starting recording right after the accident. What a joke. Complete waste to have if it doesn’t consistently record.
Love the fact that it is a small cam...however, the sound quality from the device could be better. I havent downloaded anything to computer as of yet as I delete the files on a daily basis. Other than that, I love the VANTRUE product.
So far so good! I’ve had the camera for about 6 months now with no issues (all my previous dash cams of different brands failed by now). Crystal clear recordings, you just have to make sure you keep your windshield clean, inside and out. It will sometimes focus on the dirt instead of the road (rare) if it’s dirty.
I've had countless dash-cams, I upgrade to the latest and greatest just because well, who doesn't want the newest stuff? Gave this a try and easily the best one I've used thus far. Super Clear Images, Audio is great and sufficient, functionality is easy and manual is detailed and easily understood for instructions. You won't regret it one bit. Oh, and it's super small and discrete.
This dashcam is sleek and works great. I bought it for security purposes as well as utilizing the time lapse function for my canyon runs. I was able to hide the power cables in my trim. There is a section on the side airbags you can run through, but just make sure the wires don't cross over the actual airbag itself.I actually only use the front camera, you can change the settings in the resolution to just record with the front camera.Note: To utilize the G-Sensor for parking mode (24/7 surveillance), you have to get the Hard-wire kit which is sold separately.
Love this dashcam. The video is awesome, both day and night, and the sound is great. The suction cup that is included is horrible though and I’d suggest you buy a separate dashcam holder that I bought for less than $10 that grips the camcorder and hangs down from the rear view mirror. I’ll link the sold separately dashcam holder. Absolutely suggest this camcorder as the infrared at night let’s you see everything in absolute darkness. A++++++
Was looking at several options for dash cams when I came across the Vantrue N2 Pro. I didn't feel the other options had exactly what I was looking for. Having the dual mode of recording the road in front of you as well as the interior cabin makes this a necessity of any person working in the rideshare industry. Day or night this camera works fantastic. The IR function of the rear camera in the dark is crystal clear. Driving as the sun was setting I expected the front camera to lose the ability to "see" in the dark...boy was I wrong. It's amazing the technology that can go into a compact device. I always believe you get what you pay for. In this case you get more!
1) Very difficult to tell at a glance whether or not it's charging. The guide says the OK button will blink red when its charging but that definitely didn't happen for me.2) Impossible to insert microSD card with your own fingers, have to use some other object to push it all the way in until it clicks. Same if you want to get the card out. They really couldn't have designed this better?3) The little rubberized flap that covers the SD card slot takes about a minute to pry open with just your fingers. They couldn't have added a little latch or something to grab onto to pull it out?4) The dashcam turns itself off as you insert the SD card, forcing you to turn it back on. Why? Why does it do this?Overall, a few poor design choices, definitely needs a new iteration with some simple fixes to make it more user friendly. However, great picture and sound quality. Would recommend but just be aware of some minor annoyances.
This review is for the Vantrue N2 Pro Dash Cam. First off, this is my first dash cam so it's very difficult to compare with other models. I wasn't really in the market for a camera, but Amazon had a great Black Friday sale. First off, it leaves a very small footprint on the windshield. I have it near the middle closer to the passenger side. It's partially covered by my rear view mirror, which isn't really an issue. The camera does record the entire front windshield, but nothing beyond that. I've looked at some of the video files after my first drive and the images look very clean. Please note that this does not have a wifi or bluetooth feature so you can't watch the video on your phone afterwards. I did some research prior to this purchase. But really, are you going to review all of your drive videos? Probably not, so that's why I decided not to get wifi. If you want to save a video right after an issue, you can press a button and it will not delete the video.I also bought the hardware kit. I am in no means a gearhead, but installing the dashcam to a fuse is really simple. Follow the instructions carefully. I used the cigarette lighter fuse and the camera works flawlessly. Now, I dont need to turn on the camera manually. Anytime that I turn on the car, the camera works on its own. If you go to a shop, they will charge you $100-$150. This installation will only take 20 min tops. Do it yourself!
This is an easy camera to use. Stuck it in my teen's car so that it will record outside and inside. The suction cup was nice and firm unlike other brands. Currently i have blackview and thinkware and some other best buy brand. So i definitely have some experience with these cameras. And I have to say for the price it is perfect. Will buy another one for my mini cooper. Night time video is good and daytime sunlight it still records well.
This is the only dash cam I have owned to date; however, I don't see a need to look elsewhere. The camera has great video in both directions. If you are singing in the vehicle, it will be recorded regardless of how good or bad you sing. A 32 GB card records a couple of hours of dual video streams. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this camera, especially with the new mount.
After having the Vantrue N2 Pro camera for several months, I can say it has just been an okay purchase. Should have bought a Garmin.I have used it in both very hot and cold climates, and it does seem to have battery performance issues, ie - the battery is exhausted after only 2 minutes and the camera looses its date and time settings.Overall appears an okay build, and I am mostly happy with its performance, however the unit is expensive, lacks onboard GPS, has a weak battery and is rather large..For the price, a Garmin dash cam would have been the better choice. Smaller, more durable, includes built in GPS and a memory card. Plus backed by a great company and customer service.I was contacted by Vantrue in regards to my review, or perhaps they wanted a more positive review, and by thanks I would receive a GPS antenna mount. A way of buying good reviews I suppose. However after a few emails they simply stopped communicating with me anymore and after getting what they wanted they reneged on their original offer. Something to think about if you end up needing any customer service.
So this dashcam is better than I expected. After reading all the reviews online of the different dashcams and which ones were worth the money, I can truly say that this dashcam is just as good as they say in all of the reviews. A solid construction build, an easy to use menu system, and super clear HD quality video. Don't hesitate and buy this dashcam
Purchased this not only for ability to perform time-lapse for vacation. The feature really drew me in. The picture quality is better than any other I have looked at and was easy to set up and begin to use.
I drive for both Uber and Lyft. The Vantrue N2 Pro is the highest quality dash cam I have had the pleasure of using. Easy to use. Great picture both inside the car and of the road, day and night. It gives me a sense of security knowing I have a record of my actions as well as my customers.
What I like about this dash cam is that it records high quality duel front/back videos. Yes, others exist in the market, but the Vantrue N2 dash cam is one of the lowest profile duel cameras to do the job. What also makes the product very attractive is the litany of features this tiny titan comes with.1. Infrared Night Vision mode,2. Parking Mode - allows for the camera to turn itself on and record if it senses movement (front & inside) while vehicle is parked. Thieves beware! Note: will need a power bank to continuously provide power over night or have the Camera hook up directly to the circuit breaker in your car.3. With a simple firmware update this baby can take micro SD's as large as 256.4. Build quality is pretty nice as well and doe snot feel flimsy.5. You can hook up the camera to a mini-hdmi to have your videos/photes viewed on TV.and more...The one thing that I do not like and it is entirely just me being unreasonable is that I can't change the Time format from 24hrs to AM and PM.A user needs to remember that the built in re-chargeable battery is super small and is really only there to retain the custom settings. For Operational purposes the power will need to come from the car itself or a power bank. Also, don't forget to reformat your MicroSD card once every 2 weeks have the best longevity.
This is a great dash cam that is very easy to use. It is small and does not block my view. Both the forward facing camera and cabin camera picture quality are very clear. I am able to read license plates, street and store signs. It also has night vision. It seems to have good, sturdy construction. I would definitely recommend the N2 Pro Dual Dash Cam.
Camera works great.Have been receiving spam emails that start with Chinese characters since I registered product.NowI am worried about what else they may have hacked into on my laptop.
As a Lyft driver who drives almost exclusively at night, and as a male driver who routinely drives unaccompanied females home at 4am, I felt a dashcam a MUST. I felt it was also necessary to document not only any accidents that might occur, not only to document any passenger issues that may arise, but also for my own personal safety and well being. That being said, the fact that this one can record not only out the front of the vehicle, but also the interior of the cabin was the deciding factor in my purchase.I found the setup to be fairly easy. While the interface is a bit clunky, it's easy to figure out and navigate w/o needing a manual. Video quality at night is decent, both inside and outside of the car. I also love the GPS feature where I can view the video and track not only where I am driving on a map, but also the video can be stamped with the date/time.When this car goes to my teenage new driver, the dashcam will stay in it and I'll be purchasing another one of these for my new car.
First impression - wow. Easy to set up and configure. Excellent user guide, almost didn't need it. Got it updated and running in no time. My truck has a power outlet that stays on constantly, but ordered an OBD switched power adaptor. I intend to use the "parking mode" feature. I was even more pleased to find that the firmware upgrade made the REAR facing camera detect motion - tried it and got a perfect video of me stealing stuff from myself. Connection to a Windows 10 laptop was seamless, and videos are clear and sharp.I bought the GPS bracket, and think it a shame the power port is on top when the suction cup is engaged. Luckily my windshield is large and there is enough space directly below the mirror to attach the mount. I get a perfect view from the rear and forward cameras. Kinda feel bad for people with more slanted or smaller windshields. It will be interesting to try this in our Convertible.Haven't road tested it yet, but will update after I do. Outstanding device.Promised an update:Tested this camera in all sorts of situations over the last couple days. I find that I cannot read license plates in ANY resolution at any HZ while moving. Lenses are spotless, I clean them before putting them on. My windshield is also very clean. Next, I found out that the latest update (VTN2Pro8F.V21 IQ) eliminates the ability to turn on-auto-off the IR Lights, pressing Power just turns the unit off. I am stuck with a Black-and-white rear camera. Picture quality is great, but B/W.Another issue I found is that the Camera "Falses" in the daytime if left on to protect my vehicle. It takes many short clips which show nothing moving, front or rear. I have had this problem with some Deer cameras, and there is an adjustment for sensitivity. The Vantrue N2 Pro does not have any adjustment for movement detection. Expect your card to fill up fast with useless snippets. At night it works very well, but I have not tried it in a city situation with moving cars.Do yourself a favor and download the CARDV player from Vantrue - it is very good. shows map, camera view, and x/y/z graph of motion, along with a button to grab a snapshot. Doesn't download Bing map for some reason tho.Last problem - it is illegal in MANY states to mount ANYTHING on your window. Check your laws. Mine is no exception. I am going to have to mount this camera on the dashboard. Luckily I can still use the GPS suction mount with a dash mount disk as my dash is angled up enough to make the camera level. The nature of the mount is such that should you have to flip it over you cannot point the camera ahead/level or up. The shaft attached to the ball won't allow it. Some sort of sticky dash GPS mount would really help. The N2 Pro is a great camera - I am keeping mine and may update this again. It is not a "be all end all" camera - that is pretty much a chimera, but it is great value for the money, easy to use and set up.
As a dash cam newbie, I was a little overwhelmed with all the highly advertised and marketed dash cams out there. I chose to try a few at various price points within my budget to understand the subtle differences between them. Suffice to say, Vantrue was my top choice. This dual dash cam is truly rugged and high performing dash cam that gets the job done with minimal fuss. Setup was easy, picture quality is pretty good. I thought it could do slightly better in low light although that's not a deal breaker.Loop Recording works flawlessly and there is an option to choose that loop time that is pretty neat. LCD in Auto Off mode is useful and results in less distraction when I'm driving, especially at night. The viewing angle on the dual cams cover up to 170 degrees so between the 2 cameras, you'll pretty much get close to 360 degrees view. There are only a couple of minor flaws I see in this dash cam but as I said earlier, they are not deal breakers.1. The SD Card notch is slightly recessed. So taking out the SD card (push out/push in) is a little frustrating for people with slightly thick fingers. I had to try it out a few times and then carefully use my fingernail to take it out.2. I drive an SUV and I thought the power cord could be longer so it can be hidden properly under the upholstery if the camera is installed right under the rearview mirror i.e. in the center of the windshield. Again, YMMV based on the car and position this is being installed in.3. LCD is pretty small so when setting up the device for the first time, you'll really have to squint to see what options you choose. All in all, the Vantrue N2 Pro is probably one of the best in the business today and with the current price which is way less than what I paid, I think it is pretty sweet deal for a dual dash cam.
This camera works great for front and rear view while you are driving. It does have a parking mode that you can turn on that is supposed to pick up motion and start recording while you are away. I have never been able to get this feature to work though. I turn on the parking mode but nothing ever gets recorded if the car isn't on. Also, this product has to be plugged in to work as it does not store a charge. The picture quality is great, sometimes black looks a little purple though. Sound quality is also great.
I picked up this Dashcam because I have been hit twice within a few months and both times the insurance claimed there wasn't enough proof to claim fault when both times I was hit from the rear of the vehicle. I knew a regular dashcam wouldn't catch video behind me and I didn't have the money to setup a more extreme system that has multiple cameras. I also got the hardwire kit so I could take advantage of Parking mode, I wasn't as happy with the hardwire kit because it ended up draining my battery after not driving the vehicle for about a week, however I highly reccomend it. I captured video of someone breaking into my car at night. Shocked they didn't steal the cam itself, they didn't know it was recording. This produces some clear and awesome video, both color and IR. Totally worth it.
This camera was incredibly easy to install on my 2016 Crosstrek. I simply tucked the power cord into the headliner and weather stripping down to the door, and ran the cable under the passenger floor mat to the outlet. The interface on the camera is also very user friendly, took about 5 seconds to format the memory card. I plan on hard-wiring this camera so that I can use the parking mode. The picture quality is phenomenal, still not sure if I will use the rear camera full time, or take advantage of the 4K mode for the front camera.
This Dash Cam is decent for the money. I did a lot of research before I considered to buy this one, I first bought a 50 dollar crap one that lasted 3 weeks. I have to say I didn't buy this one from here, I bought it from an ehh deal. I have to say though I use it a lot as I drive for a living. Here is some tips and common concerns.1. This is battery operated however, you will get about 5 mins of run time, it has to constantly be plugged in for those saying they charged it for 2 hours hoping it would work. Also they sell a wire harness adapter kit, up to you to get if you want park monitoring.(plugs into the fuse box on your car) Also, watch the temperature outside, as since it is a li-ion battery it can be damaged by extreme cold or hot weather.2. The picture/video quality is great, however for those using older FIRMWARES(as of date Version 21) strongly urge you to upgrade to the newest version. This is on Vantrue's website, and they are always there to help, emails seem to be fastest way to get help. The older versions had shuttering issues that I experienced.3. Mount issue, I had one of the first models of this camera, my mount holding the camera suffered from the sun and caused it to be very loose, this is a known issue I guess because after 1 email asking what I should do, they asked for my address and sent me a new version of the mount in 4 days.4. Also again, read the 1 star ratings on this, you will see how they typed them, imagine how much effort they put into technical gadgets when they put such little effort into their 1 star reviews. Do you think they did any research? Do you believe they even read the instruction manual? Do you wonder if they were dropped as children? These are all very concerning questions.5. If you are looking for a dash camera that takes clear video inside and out, this is currently the best one in the under $300 range.
I had used 4 different dash cams before, this one is the best with quality(on both cams), easy to use, clear picture and the best night vision I ever had.
I had my N2 Pro for a year now. I bought this one because of the great reviews on YouTube, Video and sound quality are good. What I don't like about this Dash Cam is you can't count on it to record. The loop doesn't seem to work so when the card fills up it stops recording and yes this feature is tuned on. The other thing is it can't seem to keep the right time and date. It always seems to be off every time I check on it. I have done the firmware update but it didn't seem to help. After spending $200 i am very unhappy.
Purchased for rideshare interior and driving protection. Has great picture quality both interior and exterior. I like that it has IR for interior night time driving (auto changes to b/w from color when interior is dark at night, tunnels, etc)
This works perfectly fir what I bought it for. Parking mode works great off of a power pack. I put a 256g sd card in it and it works flawlessly. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a dash cam.
The “loop recording” function does not work at all, and the file organization is impossible to navigate. Even with the GPS module, my unit(s) still don’t track speed, and the darn thing can’t even remember a date or time.
I was looking for cameras that could cover both the front and back of the car, this device is perfect combination with HD quality and Night video recording with clear pictures.
I am on Dashcam #4. Why can't they all work logically?? Turns on when the engine is on, turns off when you turn the engine off. Easy button for snapshots.Vantrue.... thank you for a well thought out camera. All I want is a high quality camera that takes HD footage front and rear, works automatically, and basically does its job whenever I'm in the car and I never have to fiddle with any of the controls. Everything about this dashcam is easy and it works month after month. I've taken out the memory card a few times just to make sure it was recording and sure enough, great quality front and back. It's so quiet and requires absolutely no thought so you really forget that it's there. Thanks for a great product! I think you should make a deal with car manufacturers so that these are built into all cars.
Build quality and camera are good. Picture looks good. Provided suction cup base is nice, but positioning on my Toyota Tacoma windshield isn't ideal. A textured dot pattern above the rear view mirror doesn't allow the suction cup to grab higher on the windshield. Hangs low to avoid the rear view mirror and still be in the center to look out the rear window. Hanging low blocks view. Will be making my own mounting surface for the suction cup so I can mount higher and centered.
I love it. Easy to set up. 5 minutes tops. Video quality is awesome and picture as well. Audio is good. Very clear. Listening to music and sound is not muffled. I recommend this gadget.
I drive 1000 miles a week as a sales rep for a company on average i only have to reset the drive once a week / clean vidio eazy to use once you read the manuel little maintance its just there doing its job
Is just about the blue imagen in front when recording. It should be better if the front won’t film as the blue color. Instead, it should be natural and with a better quality. But I gave u 4
Nice compact design. Great video quality which helps seeing fine details like license plates. Perfect camera for an Uber or Lyft driver with the forward camera and interior camera!
Hands down the very best value and quality for the money. Front and rear recording 1080p. Very easy to set up and use. Buying two more for the other cars. P.S., also records after car is parked. Parking lot or neighbor dings get recorded too!
I bought this for peace of mind in case I got into any incidents, and this camera has exceeded my expectations! The picture quality is exceptionally good, and the camera is small enough that it doesn't block my front windshield at all. I have already had to use it when another car side swiped me, and there was no way the other driver was talking their way out of that one!The only issue I had was that the original charging cable that came with the camera didn't work, but when I contacted customer support, they immediately sent me out a replacement which solved the issue.
Update 02/21/2019: (Five Stars)Prior to January, Vantrue sent out a replacement camera, which functions perfectly! Their support team was great to work with, and they made their best effort to accommodate my special shipping request.Update 12/17/2018: (Four Stars)Since making my original review, Vantrue has been in contact with me to provide a replacement camera. They're going to be shipping it out within the next few days as an exchange, and I expect the product that they send will be in excellent condition. I'll update this comment again once the replacement arrives.Original Review: (Three Stars)I've had this camera for nearly a year now, and I love it. The picture quality is great, the audio is pretty good as well. I purchased the hardware cable to go along with it, so that it can remain plugged in at all times and record, without having to worry about using a cigarette lighter.I'm now running into problems though, where if the camera does ever get unplugged for any reason, the internal clock resets back to the factory defaults, causing my video footage to have the wrong timestamp on it, not to mention prevent it from deleting footage recorded previously, being that took place "AFTER" this footage being recorded now.I'm assuming that the internal battery has died, which I never really understood why they used the same battery for video archiving as they did for the CMOS -- it's a really poor design in computing, and if the device doesn't power off properly for any reason, this would happen as well.So now I'm stuck with a camera that cannot be unplugged from my car, or risk having its time reset...
Update: the battery died in 9 months and the camera doesn't save any data anymore. I contacted support and they asked me to send it back on my own expense when it's not even halfway through the 18 month warranty. They also asked me to keep all accessories because obviously they're sending either a used or refurbished unit. As I disagreed, they stated that I used it already so I have to pay for shipping and accept whatever they send me. As I disagreed again, they stopped responding to my emails. PS, I was super nice and polite communicating with support. Horrible customer serviceI've been using it now for 2 days and it's awesome. I'm not sure if I'll run into the suction cup mount issue or not but, if it happens,,I'll update my review
This is probably the best thing that an Uber, Lyft or just day to day driver can have! It record both inside and out and has a max micro sd storage of 128gigs which is fantastic! I use it for Uber and you can hear everything well and see very well. Not to mention it provides night vision as well!! Great product for the money 100% recommend
I use this while driving uber and so far it has been great. having cameras in front and recording the cab is great. I do wish the video quality was a little better but overall it is good. so far I haven't had any problems and would recommend this as a good camera to others.
This does what it says it does. I have mine hard wired to my 2013 Infiniti FX60. It is on all the time and never drains the battery at all. It works fine. Only small problem is the ball joint that controls how it is aimed - it is WAY too loose. The main unit would jiggle and not stay aimed properly. I had to dissassemble the joint and put in some electrical tape into into and then tightenthe two screws up a lot to make it secure. Once that was done, no more problems. Be careful NOT to tighten the screws back too tightly or they will strip out as the housing is just plastic and the screws are metal. Video is super clear - day or night - anddefinately high definition. Pictures are great also. I love the feature that allows you to save video as it happens and to take pictures with a touch of a button.
I bought this camera almost a year ago and it is still functioning as it is suppose to. I would recommended updating the firmware because they do not ship cameras with the new firmware that has been released on the website. Instructions and support are all through their website.I recently upgraded to the optional GPS mount which will add route, speed, and direction to the metadata recorded in the videos. I ordered 2 mounts and they both came defective somehow and would not power up or charge my cameras. I e-mailed Vantrue the same day and was contacted by customer support the next day. Kelly from Vantrue ended up sending me 2 new GPS mounts the next day at no charge. I installed the new mounts the same and VOILA! they worked.Overall, my experience with Vantrue has been a positive one with not only the product itself, but with the exceptional customer support they provide to their customers. i will be recommending Vantrue to everyone I know. It is also the best bang for your buck camera with dual cameras.
I just received my Vantrue N2 Pro. starting with packaging, it looks professional and neet. The included mount is sturdy and not like some reviews I've read online. The setup menu is straightforward and easy to use. Picture quality is great. I will be using it tomorrow and hopefully add some videos. Overall it's a great camera and I recommend it.
It is solid dashcam. The biggest issue - if internal time reset, the loop recording fails too.I drove for month not realizing the cam is not function correctly. It just can't save new files because new files have older date and it doesn't overwrite existing files.I will change my review when new firmware fix the issue.
Commuting in Miami, Florida has been more concerning for us on the road with automobile accidents, theft, and car insurance fraud. As a result, we decided to purchase this dash camera as a means of video evidence in such cases. My first impression after unboxing the camera was how professional and sleek it looked. It's not to big to obstruct your view of the road ahead but also the wide view lens captures the both lanes of traffic in 1080p day or night. The sound quality from the mic is impressive as you can hear everything within and outside of the car. This is a great feature I like and use when you place the camera in "park mode," and the high G sensor can pick up another vehicle when it hits your parked vehicle.Installation was a breeze and I definitely enjoy the ease of the user interface programming to navigate the camera.Overall, I am looking forward to trying out new Vantrue cameras in the future.
Long review, tl;dr: live in city, use parking mode with power bank - works great. Standard operation while driving works great, good resolution, even better if you don't use rear camera. Front camera shows essentially 180 degrees; Rear camera shows all windows. Night recordings better than anticipated. All in all very happy for $200.Full Review:Been using the camera for a week or two. I use a 20,000 mah power bank/battery (like $25 amazon) that supports pass-through charging so I can charge the battery while driving and using the camera. The power bank usually need a few hours to fully charge, so I've been charging it at work.Normal usage is great - the camera records in 3 minute (adjustable) intervals, which are saved under a 'Normal' folder. If you hit the 'snapshot' button it saves footage from before and after you hit the button - I'm not sure but I think it saves the 'current' recording interval and the next one. Any footage from the snapshot button, or G Sensor (recognizes impacts) is automatically saved to an 'Event' folder, which is not overwritten via standard operation (only overwrites when too many 'events' are saved I believe).Parking Mode is automatic when enabled. So in my case, as long as the camera's plugged into the power bank, Parking Mode turns on when I ... am parked. I think it kicks in a few minutes after being stationary. Motion Sensor can be kind of slow - I tested last night by walking in front of my car and waving, but it only captured me walking away. But quick enough to catch anything other than someone briskly walking by. Quicker with cars than people, as expected. Confident that if someone were to hit me or anything, Parking Mode will certainly be sufficient. Note: YOU NEED A POWER BANK FOR PARKING MODE. Online forums suggest not using car battery since they are designed for quick large surges (ie starting car), not constant slow drain. Power banks are easy enough... I use 20,000 mah and on a city street last night captured tons of footage, and I still have 3/4 'charge' left on the power bank. Parking mode records both cameras, which is great because I can see out of all 4 door windows, rear window, and front whenever the motion sensor kicks in.All in all I'm happy with the camera. I bought this because in the past 3 years I've had 3 cars hit in the city (2 at night while parked) and 2 of them have been totaled. A couple were hit and runs. 100% would've been able to find the people responsible if I bought this a while back. Makes me feel much safer in a city with horrible drivers coughbaltimorecough.
I’ve had the Vantrue N2 Pro for a few months. It was very easy to setup and is easy to use. The image quality and sound is great. You’re getting a lot of the features of a more expensive camera for a lot less money. If your looking for a dash cam, check out Vantrue.
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
