I got this because some one recently side swiped my car and claimed it was my fault. Fortunately, there were traffic camera around so I was able to request the footage and prove my innocence. However the pain of getting the footage was something that I would not wish upon anyone. Total bureaucracy...Anyhow, the other reason I got this model because it uses a capacitor instead of a battery, which is better for people that lives in southern states, as batteries tend to swell up and die. It happened to me here in Northern California on a hot summer day last year. You don't need to charge these. They turn on when the car cranks and turns on.If used as dual cam, it shoots 1080p 30 fps in both directions. If used only as front cam, it can shoot 1080p 60fps or 1440p 30 fps.It comes with car charger, usb charger, windshield mount, front/back camera, user guide, and warranty card. It is well packaged and the instructions are well written, at least for me it was pretty easy to understand. The picture quality is excellent and night vision is fantastic as well. The only thing was a hassle during my installation was I wanted to hide the wires to make it seamless, but the cord was just a tad short. That was because I am particular and I didnt want any wires to be hanging or exposed.Other than that, this is a great cam.
I bought this Dual Dash Cam during a flash sale and received 25% off ($50 total savings). I wouldn't have bought it at full price, but it's a great product nonetheless and one of the few dual cam setups I found online. That said, I drive for Lyft and Uber and I was worried about road rager & hit and run type scenarios. If anything adverse happens to me or my passengers while driving, we can rest easy knowing that the dual sensors and mics captured everything.Pro's: Superb packaging, top notch build quality, great audio quality, MPH/date time stamped ftg., excellent night vision passenger cam and fisheye free video (in 1080p mode at least).Con's: The GPS module is a seperate purchase, fairly large file sizes in dual cam mode and getting the camera to stick your windshield is a bit tricky (but all suction cups kinda suck in general, pun intended).October 2018 Update(s): The company is giving away a free GPS mount for this dash cam. Be sure to register your product with Vantrue and be on the lookout for an email with the giveaway instructions.
Well worth the money and peace of mind. Quality build and picture quality is great. Have mine plugged into my 12v socket which is always powered on. The camera will power on and off automatically so it won't run your battery down. Would definitely buy again and will most likely buy another one for my wife's car just to have for video proof in case of accident.
This is a great camera. It is recommended for rideshare drivers for a reason. I drive at night and this camera shows the cabin perfectly. I like how the files are stored separately instead of picture in picture. Better instuctions on how to format the card would have nice but I figured it out. I am very pleased with this purchase.
This dash cam is fantastic. I was so nervous to buy one because I knew nothing about the technology. I spent months researching all different camera's and kept coming back to this one and I am so glad I did. It was very easy to set up the recording software the way I wanted it. It was very easy to mount into my car and hide the cables. Which that was the first time I had ever done anything like that. And transferring the video to my backup hard drive for storage is literally just a couple clicks and it does it. Here I spent months worrying about what camera to buy and within a hour I knew fully how to use this dash cam. I could have saved myself a ton of time if I would have just bought it months ago! I am a non tech savvy grandma and I completely recommend this cam. Also to add, it is so nice and small, it does not obstruct any of your view at all. Mine is mounted right up by my rear view mirror and is basically not even noticeable.
The pictures and videos are very clear on both cameras front and rear. Inside camera black and white in the evenings but still very clear. When reviewing footage it works very well on PC’s and MAC computers. The only drawback is no option to move the rear view camera image on the screen which is permanently fixed on the top left side of the screen. And theirs no option to keep the screen on. The camera screen turns off after a few minutes. But overall this dash cam is great with the way the way the wires are connected to the bracket and how easily remove the dash cam no wires hanging. It’s amazing. I plan to get another one soon. Still a five star dash cam. You won’t be disappointed.
The Vantrue N2 Pro dual dash cam is one of the better dash cameras I have used! This is definitely a must for Uber, Lyft, or other ride sharing drivers. To have the ability to record both in front of you, and what's going on in the rear is a must! This device records in 1080P on BOTH cameras. In the box, you have the N2, suction cup (very strong!), and the USB charging cable for it. The only additional item you need to purchase is a MicroSD memory card - N2 supports up to 64GB Class 10. It hides to the side of the N2.When purchasing it, I was skeptical about the rear view camera. How well will it record the passengers? How well will it record the cars in the rear window? Will the IR light reflect off of the rear window? Well, those questions were alleviated after the first 24 hours of using the N2!When you first plug it in your vehicle, setup the date and time. Putting it off will confuse you when you try to look at the recorded videos. Learn how to navigate the menu, and keys. It's not that hard, really. A few minutes makes it so much easier when you need to look back.I've used this dash cam for a few weeks now, and it's awesome! The size is really compact, so it doesn't really obstruct my view. [UPDATE W/2.5 YEARS USAGE]I've been using this camera non-stop for 2 1/2 years with very few issues, but the two most prominent are a real frickin frustration. First, the internal battery is shot. When it dies, the camera date & time are lost. It manages to keep my license plate information, but if my car sits for two days, I'll have to set the date & time. I could just leave it in 2018, but having an accurate date & time imprint is essential to me.Second, during hot days, I'm almost guaranteed to find the camera in my floorboard, the GPS mount suction cup having lost its suction. Because I have it hardwired to the fuse box, I've run the wire strategically through the molding, which all comes loose when it falls. This said I can attest to the continued high-quality video that the camera has always delivered. It's a good unit with a couple of simple, FRUSTRATING flaws.[ORIGINAL REVIEW]The camera is well-built and mounts securely to the windshield using the included suction cup. The interface takes a little getting used to, but once you have it down, it is quite easy to navigate through the menu options. Video quality is excellent, both forward and cab-facing. IR beam lights almost all three rows of my Toyota Highlander at night - far better than other cameras I have tried. The only thing negative that I could say about the camera is that if you plan to use a 64GB memory card, be sure to get one that is fast enough. The Samsung 64GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO memory card which is a Class 10 UHS 3 card works great, and can be found here:
This is regarding the Vantrue N2 Pro.I drive for two ride share companies. Since I started this endeavor I have had a few close calls on the road simply because my time on the road has multiplied ten-fold compared to before I started driving professionally. It soon became clear that a camera would be a, potentially, invaluable investment should an accident occur and proof of fault might come into question. Also, since perfect strangers are entering my car, having video evidence here may too, be a high value notion.I tried two popular cameras and just found them lacking for one reason or another. I found that “extras” such as collision warning or lane departure warnings are just a waste of time. The only way you will get reliable functions like that is to invest in a premium system designed just for that or buy a new car.Immediately after receiving the camera, I encountered a passenger who was …questionable. The upshot is he was giving me a lot of money to do next to nothing. I thought he may be high so I saved the files and kept them on my computer should he challenge the fact that he was trying to give me a lot of money (after a fashion, I refused anymore money). The videos were bright and crisp even though it was a dark a cloudy morning and the audio was superb (as he talked at a low volume). Nothing ever came of the incident but I was glad I had the proof that I was, in no way, trying to trick him or steal from him or any other nasty potential scenarios. From the vehicle perspective, the videos are great. I know next to nothing about resolution and all the video tech specs. All I can say is the videos are nice and wide, capturing much more action in front of you than I thought was possible. License plate numbers are easily read.I’m glad I didn’t take the first one that came along. The Vantrue N2 Pro is everything I need. The mounting system is top notch and the device is small enough to pocket. Very pleased with this product.
Last month a car crashed against a police car right in front of me. I was excited I finally captured something on video! - or so I thought. The camera was not recording. I noticed the memory was full.Yesterday someone crashed against me and yet again, the camera was not recording, this time with 50% memory left on the SD card. This product simply does not work. It records whenever it wants to.
I bought this as an early Christmas present for myself after researching way too many others. I took it on a family road trip from Atlanta, GA to Chicago, IL just after Christmas to gather some footage and see if I capture anything interesting along the trip.SD Card: Contrary to many others - I didn't have any issues with the SD card I chose to use (Samsung 64GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME64GA/AM)) - although I DID have to format the card IN the camera for it to work properly. Formatting on my computer wasn't 'enough'.Camera Mount: The mount worked great in super cold weather (it was -7°F in Chicago) - never came off the windshield and the camera was held firmly in place for the duration of the 10 day trip.Power Cable: The power cable (lighter mount) and built in USB port both worked as expected. I tucked the cable into the front edge of the headliner where it meets the windshield and ran it down the passenger's side A pillar and across the lower part of the dash as this was a temporary situation for the purpose of our trip.Set Up: The instructions are mediocre, at best, and it took a bit of trial and error to get most of the settings correct. I had no trouble with the date and time setting - but some other settings are not as clear and require a bit of experimentation to figure them out. I turned off the sound and disabled the 'interior' camera so that I could get the highest possible resolution out of the front facing camera.Dash Cam Use: One very big appeal to me is that the overall unit is VERY small. The screen is tiny and the whole unit was visually concealed when mounted just to the right of the rear view mirror - I couldn't see it at all. Again, we drove from Atlanta, GA to Chicago, IL over 2 days and then 4 days later, we drove back at the same pace. I captured 4 days of travel on this camera with random saves of clips along the way under different conditions, lighting and times of day. Here are my observations from 24 hours of footage:1. The picture, while clear, leans heavily on the BLUE tones - the sky was clear and the sun was out for the duration of the driving and everything is VERY blue. Perhaps the blue sky and white snow had something to do with it but I also took short video on my phone and had none of the 'blue' effect that was captured with the dash cam.2. I have watched nearly all of the footage and I cannot read the plates of the vehicles directly in front of us - in many cases, I can't even distinguish the state of issue, let alone the numbers. In contrast, I have a Google Pixel phone and have used it as a dash cam for short trips (15-20 minutes) and even in direct sunlight, I can very clearly read the plates of the cars in front of me, next to me, etc.3. The G Shock sensor is extremely sensitive. I left it on the default of "Medium" sensitivity and this resulted in the automatic capture of over 30 five minute clips due to pot holes, bumps and other road irregularities. I intentionally saved 3 clips by pressing the specified button and couldn't distinguish between my saves and those autosaved files. I had to watch them all to find the clips I saved. I could have turned the G Shock sensor off but then I'd have to remember to hit 'save' if something did happen...kind of defeats the purpose of the feature, in my opinion.4. Our windshield wasn't perfectly clean the second half of the trip but that didn't seem to affect the camera's picture quality as much as I expected. The first photo shows the 'blue' effect the camera has in bright lighting - the second photo shows how hard it is to read license plates even when the lighting is favorable. I did not upload video because Amazon's compression will make it look a lot worse than it is.Overall - it's got some nice features with some very annoying, but simple to fix, issues. For the price point, none of these issues should be present. It's not worth what I paid for it given the host of issues so it'll be returned as soon as I figure out how to get it back into the box. If I find additional photos/screenshots to upload after I've gone through the final files, I'll upload them. Fortunately, we had a very uneventful trip both ways so there's not much to see.
I have purchased 3 of these cameras and love them. My husband was hit by a car and the camera was our witness that he wasn't at fault. I also love the night vision feature and dual camera since I uber drive. I had one camera that had a issue and it was promptly replaced with a new one.
I’m a Uber/Lyft driver, so front rear and audio is a must. You can “lock” file if you need to recall the situation later.Automatic IR (night vision) is awesome.Easily detaches from base if you need to take it down, windshield mount is very durable.
As far as being able to easily recognize objects the camera works well, but I notice during night driving that the image of car license plates aren't legible because of glare from my headlights. This is concerning in case of any incidents I'd want to be able to read the license plate. As far as being able to easily recognize objects, it works well day or night.Pros:Good quality video 1080P @ 30fps when using front & rear simultaneously.Nice shapeEasily accessible buttonsMenu system intuitive and easy to navigateComes with a Mini-USB to 12V car plugCons:Dismounting option separating the camera from the suction mount is a bit awkward for removalWarning about car interior heat in the summer causing the camera to not functionNo dedicated "MIC ON" button to toggle the microphone recording instead of having to dig through the menu systemGPS isn't standard, have to pay $21 for a GPS mountMicroSD kit extraHardwire kit also extra $13Night vision glare is a bit of an issue when trying to read license plates**Today (Jan 3, 2018) after 2 weeks of ownership the camera would not power on or respond to any button presses including my attempts to try different USB cords, chargers, removing the MicroSD card, etc. I was going to end up filing a defective replacement but figured out that there's a pinhole slot to try to "RESET" the system. It worked and now I have a functional camera.**
This is a decent dash cam. The main problem with it, is that sometimes the front picture is not very clear, it is also grainy at times, at other times it is pretty clear. You wont be catching license plate numbers with this camera, that is really the worst thing about it.If you want to record front only at 2.5k maybe that will capture license plate numbers, but most people want to have the inside camera working and recording the people you are picking up and your interactions. So what is the point of the 2.5k, i mean you could flip it around if you had an issue, but who really wants to do that, and have the pax see you flipping the camera around? If you are looking for really clear front pictures and capturing license plates, don't get this dash cam.If your just looking for basic recording of the outside, and interior get it.It does it good job of recording the interior though, that is a decent enough picture. It will only get license plates of cars you are within 10 or 15 from and NOT MOVING, if your moving it wont get em, unless they are right and front of you and close.
After hours and hours of review I settled in on this Camera. It seemed to have all the features I was looking for and the other reviews were very good too. We have been using it for a week and it works great. The video is crystal clear, it has a wide camera view outside and inside the car and works perfectly. It is a bit pricey, but I don’t mind paying a little more for a good product.
I love this Dash Cam. I was able to get it up and running in just a few minutes right out of the box. This is just what I need to add value to my Uber Ride Sharing business. It will make my passengers feel safer when riding in my vehicle.
I've had different dash cams in the past around the $120 range and have had some problems or things i didn't like. The Vantrue N2 Pro is a great dash cam and haven't had any problems. I currently have the dash cam hardwired because i like to have it recording while i am away in the parking lot or else where. Previously i have had dash cams with bigger screens and liked it and thought that the screen on this would be too small to use but in my opinion i actually like this size because its not blocking my view and i can still see whats on the screen. Suction cup stays on windshield well even in -12 degrees.Pros:HD quality videoFront and rear cameraSmaller size and more discreet for those that don't want it visible to other people.Suction cup sticks strong without worrying about it falling.Takes great video even at night and weather.Great Customer service! I've had previous dashcams by Vantrue and had some minor problems or questions and they were really friendly and very helpfulCons:Getting to the SD card is little tricky but you don't need to get to it that often anyway.
did not live up to expectations, for me at least. The original suction cup was not the best but i did order the suction cup w/ gps that vantrue makes. That worked a lot better than the oem and fell off the windshield twice compared to several with the oem. Picture quality is pretty good but the angle is weird as you have to turn the camera to face you, the driver, thus skewing your forward camera and only recording a portion of the view of your drive. i had a few sd card formatting issues. sometimes it would just stop recording without warning and eliminating the purpose for the dash cam. I really wanted this to work, maybe a bad unit but i had a bad experience with this dash cam.
Great unit, quality and usefulness. Picture is great and playing around with the settings and checking tunes you into understanding it. I would recommend
The first night I tested out this camera some genius pedestrian wearing black jaywalked in front of me and I almost hit him. Even on a dark street, the camera captured it perfectly and the optional GPS mount embedded my speed in MPH and GPS coordinates in the video. I tried to find an adhesive mount because I've had issues with suction cup mounts in the past, but the GPS suction cup mount is working great so far.Overall, I'm really happy with it and I know my Dad will love it when I finally quit "testing" it and give him his Christmas present (he drives for Uber). I paid less than $40 for the A118C I ordered from China (still hasn't arrived), and I'm hoping I don't return that one and order another N2 Pro for myself.
What a nice system, does a great job as a camera, but I enjoy the security feature most as a great watchdog for my car when is parked.I do think that a better mount would make the camera more dependable. I believe the mount is not strong enough, because the unit will drop off the windshield after a while. I would recommend this Dash Cam it is great unit and I'm sure this small problem will be corrected.
This product is great for Lyft and Uber drivers. I plunged it in to make sure it worked then I went ahead and test mounted it behind the mirror and just tucked the wire behind the windshield trim. My test setup was good enough its still that way now, a month later. Easy Peezy. So it took way less than 5 minutes and its all set. You don't have to mess with it again. It is mounted high enough that its not noticed by passengers or thieves. Only time I brought it in was when a passenger gave me some information I wanted to save, I plunged the unit into my computer using the cable provided, used the automatic time stamp to find the file and copied it to my computer.
I was able to us a 128gb micro sd card by using the N2 Pro to format it. I recommend using the N2 Pro to format rather than downloading an application. Video and audio is perfect. Only shortcoming is not being able to connect to phone by wifi or Bluetooth. Will try to format a 256 micro sd for long distance trips. Dual cameras makes traveling fun and great memories.PATIENT WAITING for Vantrue to make a system that connects to phone for playback and/or recording.
according price is so bad design when using(if you will need all of record when long way) specially using card is so difficultyou need a pen or small screwdriver! changing card when driving is impossible!when it is working close the screen (it is working) but you can not seemount detail is little weak you have to use very carefullyinside camera quality is well than fronthave not cap lenses if it fall down lenses can be damage seriously...there is not software for view movie and gps on map at the same time???
Everything is OK except for the work and store temperature. The manual says it is between 32°-158°F. Also, when you park your car, if it is too cold, you should store it in glove box. If it is too hot, you should not let it expose to sun. This means during summer and winter, you should always take it down after you park your car in the sun or in the snow. I didn't expect it to be so delicate.
This dashcam really is one of a kind. It is built really strong and also you can tell it is not cheap. Playing around with it, it’s awesome how many features it comes with and the possibilities are ENDLESS! I really enjoy how I feel safer with just having this inside of my car. I even bought one for me father because I love it so much. If anyone asks about dashcams, I will definitely recommend this one because it does the job. The functions are really easy to control and the infrared for night time is really great because it works well in the darkest of hours. The suction cup even has its own charger attached to it! Like how awesome is that! It is also very easy to hide inside your car. Thank you VanTrue for this amazing product
My first dashcam and it works great!!The video quality is very good in day and night.Very easy to mount and use the settings. If you are a Uber or Lyft driver you should get this Dashcam,You won't regret it.I bought the GPS for this dashcam and it works great.I use the 64GB memory card with no issues
Working for Uber, especially in the Washington metropolitan environment, I needed a dash camera that was sharp, consistent and able to keep up with me as I take my clients, to and from the Nation’s capital. The previous model that I used, Vantrue N2, I liked it because it has duel camera and infrared vision. In my previous review of this model, I mentioned that I would love to have the infrared also installed in the back which this model didn’t have. However the new version, Vantrue N2 Pro, has the infrared in the front and the back of the camera which a major improvement. With high definition, everything is clear and crisp, with 1080 P on both sides. I love the feel, lightweight, optical screen, and quality of this product. It is clearly not a cheap design and very portable, which is what you need in a dash camera, especially when you’re on the move and need to install quickly. I want to discuss pros and cons, please see below.PROs:Easy to setup and install quickly without any hassle and just as easy to remove.Easy to read and navigate the settings and menu of the Vantrue N2 Pro.The infrared vision, you can also see the back seat clearly, which is important for a car sharing driver.I am very impressed with the quality of the product and design of this new model. I would definitely recommend.CONsIt is a little difficult to update the software, however it is not a major fault that I could see, Not a big deal but worth mentioning. As a driver, especially in this environment where it is vital to record everything, one of the most important things is to be able to relay on a camera that I know will work properly in the field. I drive almost 24/7 and I require products that I can count on. This little device, I am happy to say that it will give me great value because so far that I’ve been testing it for about a week, I have had hardly any complaints.
I was very excited once I received this item. However, my excitement quickly disolved when I was setting up to charge the camera. Upon charging, I inserted the SD card as instructed, but it became jammed in the camera once I tried to take it out. To remove the SD card, as the instruction said, push down and you'll hear a click. There was no click and the card now is permanently lodged in. There is no button to press to remove the SD card if that method doesn't work.
I RECOMMEND THIS DASH CAMERA! THE Best dash camera I ever bought for my car, period! This camera has great resolution, everything recorded is crispy clear, be it at night or day time. Rear camera can capture crispy clear video as well whether I am ubering at night time or day time. The recorded sound is great too. IHIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone who is considering buying a dash cam, you will not be disappointed!
This dash cam is much better than I expected, the image is sharp and it is a very easy camera to configure. as for the size is perfect.I recommend it 100%
I've been using this dash cam for about a month now and I do like it and serves it purpose, my only cons is that it has bluish tint on the front camera and I wish there's a way to adjust or eliminate it.
Love this cam! small and unobtrusive on windshield. A video surveillance device for your car! I am an Uber driver for two years and I cant believe I waited so long to get this. Also its just really cool and takes great HD video.
Easy to install, inconspicuous, and easy to use. The video is prettt good only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because the audio could be better, have a hard time picking the passengers in the back seat
Literally.. Best car accessory I got for my car.Outstanding resolution. Can see license plate crispy clear. Rear camera is a big help when it come to ubering at night time & the sound it portrayed just right. No static & no delays.HIGHLY RECOMMEND for drivers who go far to work and especially at night time. Mainly one of the reasons I got it.Love that the cable is lengthy and easy to tuck in & and easy mounting to the windshield.
So far I do like this product. However some issues.#1. The little blue light that tells you when you start your car that the thing is on, is so small and not bright. I can't see the blue light it to see if the camera turned on. I am constantly pressing the "ON" button so I can see if the unit turned on. Every time I do press the "On" button it locks that video and takes space on my SD memory card.#2. The unit make a rattling sound that comes from the bottom on the unit where the buttons are. The buttons are so loose that it vibrates and when you play the recording you hear rattling and a buzzing noise. Very annoying. I had to place a piece of tape over the buttons so that it wouldn't rattle when driving. Still, this does not solve most of the vibration sound issues.#3. You have a unit that has 2 cameras, front and back. Why not make if like 360? The back camera does not cover the driver windows or passenger windows. It would be so useful when pulled over by the cops to get them in the window shot.#4. Sometime I will be missing clips or it just didn't capture and save on the camera. I would have a clip for example (12:10 - 12:15) then another at (12:20- 12:25), so where is the 12:15 to 12:20? I don't know. I get this many times. One day I might need a clip, Im not confident 100% yet that it will capture what I need when I need it. Too many ifs, that I constantly fear its not recording.
I had a friend that had a dashcam, and have always wanted to get one. Looking online, there are tons to choose from, and was hard to narrow down my choices. I knew I wanted 2 cameras, high res video, and one that was high quality. I chose this one because of the reviews, the reputation of Vantrue, and the specs/features.Pros:Awesome video, looks crisp when reviewing video. Audio is very clear too.Nice mount, and secure. I have seen dashcams where the video is shaky because of a bad mount, this one is smooth, and keeps the video stable. Also, the mount has contacts, so you can add a GPS mount if wanted to in the future.Captures front and has a camera to capture the car. I don’t drive UBER but I could see how this would be ideal for an UBER driver because it could capture riders. I like the camera facing the interior, because it can still see out the back (if someone would rear-end), but it doesn’t require a second camera to be mounted in the rear.Cons:It uses miniUSB, which isn’t that big of a deal because it came with cables, but all my phones and other devices use microUSB, so just need to make sure I have this cable on hand.I liked the camera a lot and plan to buy the hook up to have it go to the fuse box so I don’t have to worry about it turning on and off when I drive. The buttons are easy to navigate, and the camera feels very high end and well built.
It does exactly what I expected and need it to do. It's small, light, dishes out good quality video, and is easy to setup and use.I wanted a dual camera cam without having to mount anything to my car, or wire anything up. I actually prefer the inside view better as well. While it's gotten a bit warm, I can't say I've ever felt it 'hot', which is nice.Only thing I'd like to see added would be a carrying case, as I don't feel comfortable leaving this in my car all the time - despite the useful parking feature.
This dash cam works great. Good quality picture with both cameras. I am happy, that I got the pro model with night view. I have the g-sensor setting on medium, but I may change this. In the current setting It stores too many unnecessary events, causing the SD card to fill up quickly. LA has many bad streets. I love the connector. No messing with cables, once installed. Audio is okay, but you won't be able to hear whispering in the backseat. I also bought the GPS unit It works great, however. I think it should be included with the device. The cable is just long enough to reach from the camera, along the top of the window on the driver side, down the sealing of the door and then underneath the foot mat to the plug in the middle console. My suggestions for improvements in future models:1. The GPS unit should come with the product.2. The rear facing camera should be detachable - ideally to be mounted on top of the rear view mirror, So the main camera could sit directly behind the mirror and not as much in my view.3. A way to store the files externally, somewhere hidden in the car. So the video files would be still there, if a bad guy would take the camera.
I was worried about putting a camera on the windshield and having it block forward view, but the small size of this camera makes it possible to mount unobtrusively behind the rear view mirror (behind as viewed from driver seat). Rear view camera still shows interior view from the position I chose and some usable field of view behind the car, too. Very clear images day and night - better than I was expecting. Chose this over the HP with 1440P resolution, as the N2 has a nice rear view as well. Very responsive support by Vantrue on an e-mailed question about formatting a 64GB chip to FAT32 - turns out it CAN be formatted by the camera itself!
High quality video, and overall a very good product. I enjoy using mine daily, and have had no issues with this unit. its a set it and forget it type deal. I always know im safe when driving, and its a nice feeling to have especially in florida. Also, the reverse passenger cam does an awesome job and is very clear, night vision is excellent and very bright. The unit is also discreet, most of my passengers dont even realize its there.
Small inconspicuous camera with a ton of features. Video is clear and stunning. Installed in 15 minutes. Intrusions are very clear. I only wish that the screen were bigger but I love that it's so small that it's barely noticeable under the rear view mirror. Absolutely thrilled with my purchase.
This was so easy to install in my car. I quickly tested it to check the video playback quality and it is great. It took my about 10 minutes to get it set up (hide the wiring). If it weren't for my nails, I would have done it in 5. Looking forward to using it more often.
Item arrived quicker than expected.Good quality item.Camera was easy to install and is securely mounted. I have not had any issues with it coming unattached from my windshield.Programming is straight forward.Picture quality is great in daylight and good at night. License plates are hard to read at a distance.I would definitely recommend.
I did a lot of research before deciding on this dash cam. I was very happy with it at first, in May of 2017, but I quickly noticed that park mode didn't work well. After a night of being in park mode, the software would completely lock up. I had to unplug it and let the short lived internal battery drain so that the device turned off (the on/off button wouldn't work when locked up). All was fine again after it shutdown and I plugged it back in, but park mode was useful for only around an hour before the device froze. Also, during the day, around a 75 degree day, this device would freeze or seemingly turn off (screen went blank and pressing the power button had no effect). It wasn't a hot day but the device was extremely hot, so I assume it was related to overheating. Picture quality, sound quality, and front and rear cameras are all good. If reviewing only on those aspects my rating would be higher, but half the reason I bought this was for park mode, plus what seems to be an overheating problem warrants only 1 star. I wouldn't give it zero stars, if that was an option, because I still occasionally plug it in and run until I park or it overheats, whichever happens first.EDIT: I had updated the firmware when I first bought the camera but there have been a couple of newer versions since then. I updated the firmware to the latest one a couple of days ago, which was made available around two weeks ago, and the camera works much better. The device still gets hot but it no longer shuts down because it's too hot, and park mode works all night. Also, it auto-switches between park mode and live mode as it was supposed to do. I changed it's rating from 1 star to 3 stars. After more use, I may up the rating again. I wish its low-light recording was better, but there aren't many cameras that record well in low-light without using actual night-vision technology. Thank you, Vantrue, for responding to my rating, I would not have tried updating the firmware again, otherwise.
This dash cam is awesome!!! It records in high resolution. While in the dual cam feature, it records in 1080P but when switched to front road view, you can record as high as 1440P. The video recordings are clear and crisp. It takes excellent videos while driving at night. You can make out license plates. Great investment for protecting your vehicle in case of accidents. Definitely one of the best dash cam on the market!
Unit shuts off after a short period. Vantrue customer service said The only card that they approve is Samsung Evo. That’s not what the operating manual says but ok..bought one...no help. Then they said settings should be changed..no change...then the firmware might need to be updated...really? How about making these fixes before I buy it..and maybe turn it on to make sure it works too? By the way customer service only available via email with responses in broken English. A guaranteed return.
Absolutely love! Very clear image and picture... simply took out of the box, gave it some power to charge and then formatted my 64gb SDCard as noted in the manual. The camera automatically started to record. I was worried that this would not mount properly with my Hummer H1, as the front windshield is flat and not at an angle, as required by the suction cup mount. However even with the camera at a slight angle you can see everything! I will be upgrading my suction cup to the GPS unit that has a more flexible suction cup, but even with the default it is great! Also going to buy their hardwire mount with battery level monitor. Will be buying another unit for my other car.
I've used this cam for 2 weeks now and it's been great. This is my third dash cam and it is by far the best one I have used, but its also the newest and most expensive. The basics are well covered by this dash cam with only a few minor annoyances. The key feature of this camera is the interior video camera that should be a must have for ridesharing (uber/lyft/taxi), checking on a new teenage divers, vlogging, and possibly racing/trackdays. However I found the interior camera far more interesting and useful than I thought it would be in my simple daily commute.Check out the attached pictures of what's included in the box, in addition to snapshots from the raw video produced by this camera in both day and night in both 1080p and 1440p from both the interior camera and exterior camera. The picture quality is excellent for a dash camera and should be more than adequate for all mainstream dash cam use cases.PROS: • Small unobtrusive design • Unique and surprisingly useful interior facing camera • Interior cam: IR lowlight "night vision" works great. Can see everyone in the car even at night (see attached photo) • Interior cam: Automatic switch from night vision IR (b/w) to daytime (color) based on lighting conditions • HDR. Great exposure and dynamic range even and in tricky lighting conditions such as driving into the sun, or oncoming traffic headlights at night. (see attached photos) • Great lowlight performance due to a high performance image sensor and fast bright lens optics at f1.8/f2.0 (see attached photos) • Automatic on via ignition power • Automatic on via motion detection( in constant power park mode) • Loop recording support (automatically overwrite old files, like a DVR). • 1440P resolution for outside cam • 1080P for inside cam in both IR and color modes. • Well written, complete, clear, and concise English documentation • High quality locking suction cup mount • Quick release mount: camera easily separates from mount for quick setup or storage • 12v charging cable has an additional flip out USB A port for charging other devices, like your cellphone • Great build quality. Highly useable and thoughtfully well-designed • While it worked out of the box, the stock firmware was 3 versions behind the current release. However, the firmware was easy to upgrade shows Vantrue is actively working to make improvements to the camera. • Automatic Parking mode via motion detection • Time Lapse photo support • Menu buttons double as short cut buttons for toggling recording settings (mute, IR lighting, screen on/off)Cons: • Hardwire Kit sold separately. • Parking mode requires constant power via hardwire kit or additional backup battery USB power bank (dependent on make/model of car, really this is a compromise for most dash cams with parking mode to not kill the vehicle battery) • GPS module sold separately (suction cup mount) • Limited to 64gb micro-sd cards (maybe firmware limited) • G-Sensor too sensitive on default setting. Locks too many files. ('locked' files will overwrite if over 30%) • 1440p mode only available if you disable the interior cam (probably a hardware limitation): Dual cam is 1080p/1080p which is still very good. • Confusing menu button layout: OK/Confirm is always the left button, cancel/back is the right button. This is opposite the convention used by most modern phone and computer applications. • The manual states the memory card should be reformatted every 2 weeks. However, I have used it for over 2 weeks now with no issues. Possibly due to fragmentation the fat32 file system? I didn’t test this, but hopefully it will notify me of write errors if this happens. • A little pricey. But not bad if you consider this dash cam is packing 2 cameras to capture the action both inside and outside the car in one tidy package.

Update 3/28/2019I’ve waited over a year to update this review in case the previous issues came back. Let me first say that the customer service after someone read my initial review was excellent. They sent me a replacement dash cam with an updated mount and both have worked perfectly since I received them back in December 2017. I was the unfortunate victim of a hit and run last week and the forward camera captured the persons license plate clearly enough for the police to track them down. This current version is worth every penny. So many problems!I’ve had this installed in my car for a couple weeks and now the ball joint on the mount is so loose that the camera flops around in all directions while driving. I emailed support@vantrue.net on 12/1/17 and it is now almost midnight 12/5/17 and they have not responded or even acknoledged my email.2 stars because the camera takes decent video and the audio is great. It just ends up being video of my hood or the sky....This may end up being a return.Update: 12/22/17Vantrue customer service did reach out to me on 12/14/17 after seeing my amazon review. Still not sure what happened to the email I sent but happy to hear from someone. They promptly sent me a replacement gps mount and so far it’s working great. Upgrading to 4 stars.Update: 9/1/18The replacement gps mount has the same defect now where it will not hold position and requires daily tightening of the screws. The motion sensor parking mode no longer works either. Someone decided to key my car from the front fender all the way to the trunk but there’s no recordings for the entire day! Yes I was formatting the memory card every 2 weeks as suggested. It is also hardwired to power but no longer keeps the correct date/time.
Pros:- Clear HD quality in daytime and nighttime- Can read vehicle license plates in daytime (see attached photo)- Dual camera: inside and outside (inside video will be super helpful for ride-share drivers)- Audio can be recorded- Can include own text (e.g. license plate) in video- Compact designCons:- While HD, hard to make out vehicle license plates at night (see attached photo)Potential features to add:- Increase cost little bit and add GPS mount as a default feature- Wifi download via iPhone/Android app
If you drive for rideshare get one of these the night vision works great..You need 2 cards cause it only records 6 hours or format the one you are using after 6 hours.. And that is with a 64gb card
This is the 3rd camera that I bought. I use mine for my protection when I drive for UBER. I drive in the Chicago market. It took excellent wide angle video. the rear camera also took great video inside the car. I was able to attach it to the front windshield, and nobody seen it or asked about it. I bought mine on Black Friday and got a great deal for it, even at the normal price, it is a nice value. The camera will turn off, but still record, so no one sees it recording. The only drawback I have so far is that at 30% of the video of the card being filled up, it will start to copy over the existing video. But overall it is a GREAT Camera.
I've had problems from day one. First the base stopped charging, they sent a new one and it seemed to work ok but only for a few months. It would just turn on and off randomly. Now it doesn't work at all!!! I emailed the company and they said "sorry nothing we can do because your outside the 18 month warranty"I'd expect a bit more support for such an expensive camera. I will definitely not buy from this company again.
Have had a few different cameras in the past. I drive for a rideshare company so this is perfect. Crystal clear footage of what is in front of the car and very clear recording of the entire cabin. It wouldn't stick to my windshield so I attached it with adhesive velcro. No big deal. It's working perfectly. I couldn't be happier with it. Great camera!
The Vantrue N2 Pro is a excellent dash cam easy to operate, easy to set up, and excellent high quality images from both front and rear cameras, even at night! I am an uber driver and this is the dash cam to have!!! oh yes, I certainly don't want to forget to mention that this company has excellent customer service as well.....Highly recommended!!!
I really shopped hard and read tons of reviews before deciding on VanTrue N2. We use this amazing little high quality camera in our RV. We bought the additional GPS mount so it also records a time and date stamp as well as GPS coordinates on the picture. It is so easy to use and to download to your PC. It has two cameras one facing the road and the other inside your vehicle. You can disable the inside camera if you want, but having the option is great if, like us, you have animals with you. It is easy to keep track of what they've been up to. You won't regret this decision. It's high quality, easy to use and does a great job.
None of the dashcams interfaces are that great and the button functions could be better. The camera is great (image and sound). Poor user guide. I still haven't figured how to control when it records and doesn't (besides power on/off) as the pause/rec function is not simple enough to use on the fly.The battery is non-functioning from day one. As soon as the power cord is removed, the camera shuts off within 5 seconds and won't power on and stay on.
I acquired this many months ago but was swamped with some personal things and just got around to installing it. The instructions state that it supports up to 64gb, however I was able to use my Samsung 128gb card by formatting it inside of the dashcam. The night vision works excellent, far better than I had expected and with it getting dark before I leave work this is a huge plus for me. I can get a good 9-10 hours before it will start to loop so this is plenty of time to lock down and save any footage that I need.My car was recently backed into (no real damage just some paint exchange) and had I installed this like I should have when I received it, I would have caught the culprit on camera thanks to the Parking Emergency Protect Feature. All in all this is a great device and I'm happy with my purchase. It's a perfect 5 out of 7 ;)
A product that keeps getting better with time. I've been a Vantrue customer from the start and can say that the product is rock solid. Great resolution on both N2 and N2 pro. The nice thing about the new N2 Pro is that you get IR for night vision inside the cabin as well. Really happy I upgraded to new version. The N2 classic will be used in our other car. I would never drive anywhere without the assurances of a dash cam. Rock solid investment. Customer support with Vantrue has been 5 stars. The company also provides regular firmware updates, support documents and other important info. I've tried other products but none come close to Vantrue for the money, features etc etc
When I bought this dash cam I did not think I would need it one day but after putting it in my car one day I got an accident one of them hit my car from the drivers side and then ascaped I saw what happened after the accident stopped and started taking pictures of the car I do not know when you need this dash cam I ask everybody to puta dash cam in thire cars no matterwhat siz the fix my car after saw my video the pay everything thinkyou vantrue
Great camera for rideshare drivers! Great video quality, easy to use, and affordable to boot! Even at night, it takes great videos, inside and outside. I love that it records great at night, and that it works 24/7 with "parking mode". I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking to get a dashcam and definitely if they are thinking about being a rideshare driver!
I had high expectations for this dash cam and I'm very happy with it. It's solid, the windshield mount works well and the camera for both the front and the back work well. The only negative is that when using both the front and back recording you are limited to 30 fps. If only using the front, you can get 60 fps at 1080p. I have this plugged into the car lighter, so when I turn on the car the cam starts recording automatically and when I turn off the car, the cam shuts down. The video this takes, looks great. Also, I'm using a 128gb micro SD card. It works perfectly. Yes, I know, the documentation only states 64gb's is supported. But having 128 gb's is pretty cool. Specifically this card is the Samsung 128 EVO Plus (SAMSDEP128GA . MFR # MB-MC128GA/AM). It's the orange one. You will need to format the card in the Dash Cam. Very Happy with this product, totally recommend it.
Product impression: It does not look cheap. It’s well built and the outside feels like rubberized. I left it in a car through very hot summer and still no issue.
Very good resolution: See the photos. Both interior and exterior resolutions are good. Interior of my car is black leather and the person is wearing dark blue jacket but the camera still shows a good image. I redacted the face but details are pretty good. Vehicle license plate numbers can be read on 1080P (outside)/1080P(inside). The menu also offers a higher resolution but then it does not offer dual camera views.
Easy setup: Good suction cup/holder is very steady and not shaky. Well built, plug and play as the factory setting is already good for most users. Menu and buttons are simple and easy to understand. Good user interface.
Excellent/responsive customer: Customer support by email is very responsive and genuinely interested in resolving a customer’s concerns and issues. It generally takes 1 or 2 days to response but they do get back to you. They also don’t hesitate to offer exchange a defective dash cam under warranty after trouble shootings.
Optional GPS: Quick fix GPS antenna and enables speed of a vehicle stamps on video files.
Suggestion: Use good quality micro SD cards made for frequent write/delete like SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring. Check once in a while to make sure the files are not corrupted. Reformat every 1 or 2 weeks. Keep one extra SD card as backup. Throw away and get a new one if SD cards keep corrupted or turns on/off the dash cam. Also, always use OEM cable and charger. Connect USB directly to the dash cam rather than through the holder or GPS antenna if you are having any power issue. Update firmware only if necessary so that you know if the dash cam experiences some issues you can spot the issue.
